PGHNJ's Expo saw sixty girls representing the Classes of 2025, 2026, 2027 and 2028 come together under one roof in Wayne, NJ to compete in 3×3 and 5×5 events on Saturday. From future D1 prospects, to D2, D3 and even NAIA and JUCO level prospects, this event had a little bit of everything! The competition and atmosphere was incredible! Here is what I saw from Team 6:

[player_tooltip player_id='583950' first='Sayuri' last='Penaranda'] | #811

Sayuri goes about her business on the court quietly and lets her game do all the talking. On pretty jumpers with a high release point, she drained short and mid-range jumpers. She was a quick burst in transition and sped to the rim for easy layins. She was consistent in her shot selection and made smart decisions on when it was best to shoot, and when it was best to pass instead. This is a player who deserves a lot more attention and notoriety!

[player_tooltip player_id='982719' first='Ava' last='Catanho'] | #813

Rocking one orange and one blue shoe, Ava was light on her feet as she creeped behind the ball-handler and swiped a steal. She was locked in defensively and imposed her will, keeping active hands and excellent timing to stack her cookies. I love how she wasn't scared of the moment, playing with and against girls she wouldn't normally in her conference. She made the most of opportunities, let shots fly from deep and remained confident throughout.

[player_tooltip player_id='976730' first='Imani' last='McKenzie'] | #816

Once she turned the jets on, she was OUT! She battled through contact on drives and finished at a high level. She showed no hesitation taking it to bigger opponents lurking underneath the basket. Once she set her eyes on the prize, she was going to get it no matter what! That's called TENACITY and RELENTLESSNESS!

[player_tooltip player_id='525307' first='Jessaiah' last='Reynoso'] | #820

It's easy to tell by watching her for even just a few minutes that Jessaiah is a HOOPER! She got after it on both ends but it was the game against Team 2 where she really excelled! She played with a ton of swag and poise, dashing up and down the court in transition and applying pressure on the ball defensively. Give her the ball and let her go to work!

Hannah O'Neal | #822

Hannah showed off the makings of a combo guard. She showed her ability to handle the ball with care as well as confidence letting it fly from deep; always lurking, ready to knock down the triple. She instantly adjusted to playing with girls she never played before, looking comfortable in her time on the court. As she continues to develop her mid-range, she will keep adding to her bag and become to a multi-level scoring threat.

[player_tooltip player_id='982714' first='Antonia' last='Jackson'] | #827

Cheech was clicking on all cylinders! She showed off a crafty layup package and the ability to finish with either hand, even through contact. Her outside shooting was butter as she drained them from 18-22 feet at a high clip. At times, she was a one-woman scoring machine. With a good eye for steals, she turned opponents over at a rapid pace and sprinted downhill for the easy layin. She was one of the best players at The Expo regardless of Class.

[player_tooltip player_id='583714' first='Alani' last='White'] | #840

Alani displayed flashes of excellence controlling the low-mid post areas. She did a great job leading with her body on layups and commanding the glass for rebounds. I loved her willingness to get after it on defense and put forth a great effort protecting the rim. I have seen Alani compete before, mostly this summer on the grassroots trail, and she looked quicker and more fluid. It's easy to tell she's been putting in A LOT of work behind-the-scenes!

[player_tooltip player_id='773989' first='Juliet' last='Johnson'] | #844

She was an absolute terror in the paint! From furious rebounding to bold shot-blocking, it was a mistake to enter her space in the paint! More impressive was her ability to defend at a high level without racking up fouls; she was excellent at remaining vertical and not swatting down recklessly on block attempts. She was beneficiary of many post-entry passes which she converted for easy points. Her two-way game was one of the day's most impactful.

[player_tooltip player_id='601520' first='Allison' last='Snyder'] | #838

Allison's role wasn't so much to be a furious scorer as it was to be a fantastic facilitator! She delivered perfectly-timed post-entry passes to teammate [player_tooltip player_id='773989' first='Juliet' last='Johnson'] and dished dimes to teammates spaced out around the floor. She made a great effort to compete on the glass and use every bit of her 5'11" frame to corral rebounds.
