Pinole Valley Jamboree Scrimmage: Future stars in the gym

This weekend, the annual Pinole Valley Jamboree Scrimmage took place, hosted by Pinole Valley head coach Brian Gaither and staff. The event brought together 22 of the top girls' basketball teams from the Bay Area and Sacramento. Teams participated in multiple 30-minute games across three courts, providing plenty of opportunities for athletes to showcase their skills. The jamboree was well-attended, ran smoothly, and highlighted some of the best young talent in the region. Here are a few of the standout performers from the event.    A quick guard with a tight handle, impressive shiftiness, and clear leadership on the court. She can score at all three levels—hitting threes, pulling up for mid-range jumpers, and finishing with either hand around the basket. Her ball-handling skills and quickness make her difficult to pick up in the backcourt. Around the rim, she displays excellent footwork, including euro steps to navigate around defenders. Shi currently holds several offers early in her career.     Miller is a post player with tremendous upside, especially for someone entering her first season of high school varsity basketball. She finishes well around the basket, showing a soft touch and the ability to score from multiple angles. She plays aggressively on both ends of the floor. Offensively, she is a constant threat on the boards, making it difficult for opposing teams to prevent her from grabbing offensive rebounds and securing multiple putback opportunities. Defensively, she demonstrates discipline, avoiding unnecessary fouls and resisting the urge to bite on ball fakes. Miller is poised for a strong season with the Colts.     Chapman is a multi-skilled guard who gives the Dragons the flexibility to play her at any of the guard positions. As a point guard, she reads the floor exceptionally well, making laser-sharp passes that are on time and easy for her teammates to finish. She is comfortable running pick-and-rolls or pushing the ball in transition. Beyond her impressive passing, Chapman also has the ability to be an aggressive scoring option. She finishes around the basket with either hand, knocks down pull-up jumpers, and can hit the three-ball if defenders go under pick-and-roll coverage. Her versatility has attracted attention from high-level college programs, with several offers and continuing to follow the young sophomore.     Turner continues to improve and impress. A strong ball-handling guard, she thrives in transition and has excellent court vision, making impressive passes. She is aggressive in seeking shot opportunities, shooting well from mid-range, and handles full-court pressure with poise. Defensively, Turner is versatile, capable of guarding multiple positions. With her well-rounded game, she will be a player to watch this season and beyond.     Smith enters the season as one of the top prospects in the area. At 6'4", with athleticism and length, she presents a matchup problem for most teams. Offensively, she has a soft touch around the basket, can handle the ball, and displays high-level back-to-the-basket moves. She also demonstrated the ability to catch the ball on the perimeter and drive downhill with confidence. Smith currently holds several high level D1 offers.
