Rebuilding Hope: The MJCA Saints’ Journey

Juliet community, as well as causing damage to the Mt. Juliet Christian Academy school. Though buildings were damaged and the severity of the weather caused mass harm, the Mt. Juliet community rallied around each other, stood locked arm in arm, and started to rebuild their community.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>If you didn't know, the MJCA mascot is a Saint, which comes from a Latin word origin. Google describes a Saint in English as “holy,” which is used in many faith systems. This community is rebuilding. Just like the town, this ball club too is rebuilding as well. Through hardships you have to have faith. This ball club is rebuilding from the ground up. Little by little, this club is starting to lay a solid foundation for something immaculate to take place. Just like all good things, you have to start somewhere and it takes time. Last season, the MJCA ball club didn't have it's best year. However, just like a rebuild, new blood was injected into the program to bring new life and hope. Led by coach Rick Johnson, this team will look to turn their fortunes around and build something the community will be proud of.&nbsp; This team is on the upswing and with young talent coming into the fold, look for them to be molded in the image that will shine throughout the community.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I didn't bring up the tornado to have anyone relive the hardships and pain. I mentioned it because this school was hit hard and dealt with a setback that has been beyond the importance of basketball. When it comes to the MJCA program, a solid foundation is being built for these young ladies to thrive in. Just like anything, it takes time to build. With a good leader at the helm and kids who value the game, look for MJCA to turn things around. There is a famous song that goes “When the Saints go marching in,” declare that song as the anthem because once this team starts to operate as a unit, this school will be marching in and battling each and every opponent.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This team is young but will come out and compete. They will gain valuable experience and fortify their place in the district. Win or lose, know that MJCA is going to give you their best effort. Solid athlete who can battle in the paint. Physical kid who has back to the basket moves that enables her to score the rock. She is big time on the interior and will do her work early and often down there. Defensively, she is on the boards. Being instinctive and anticipating well, this kid goes after the ball like it's nobody's business. This kid has a nice stroke that she won't hesitate to release from multiple spots on the floor. A solid two way player who can step up and defend, but also be a leading scorer for her ball club. She will be tasked with being the leader for this club. Coach has a lot of confidence in her and she will do all that she can to make sure she brings the best version of herself night in and night out. She can pull it from three or step into the mid-range area and finish. Defensively, she is great in the help position, gets steals, grabs boards. She will look to be an important piece of this MJCA attack. Look for her to gain valuable experience this season and be a solid contributor throughout her high school career. She will be the floor general who will be the technician of this Lady Saints attack. Solid ball handler who can deliver timely passes and knock down shots from multiple spots on the floor. Young and still growing, look for her to come into the season learning on the fly.
