Among the best high school girls basketball conferences in Connecticut last season was the South West Conference, a senior-heavy dominated conference last season, but one with plenty of talent coming back this winter. Here's a look at some of the all-division standouts from the Colonial Division returning for this season.

Mia Tartaglia - Joel Barlow (2026)

Targaglia is finding her stride at the right time for Joel Barlow, really emerging onto the scene with a stellar sophomore season in the winter and spring. As a sophomore, she led the team in both assists and steals, someone who can survey the court and get her teammates involved on both sides of the ball. Impressive to see her manning the point guard position so early in her high school career, not just running the point, but dominating, carving out a spot for herself to thrive.

Ava Rochester - Newtown (2025)

Slightly undersized for a center/power forward, but Newtown senior Ava Rochester has held down the fort and then some for this program over the past several years, that coming to a crescendo as a junior, as of now that is. Great feel for the game down low, able to maneuver herself through traffic. Not afraid to get physical down low, trying to get contact for and-1 opportunities and more. Would love to see her continue that physicality, continue to get rebounds and couple that with efficiency on the offensive end.

Danielle Dube - Masuk (2027)

Masuk will be without standout player [player_tooltip player_id='323620' first='Grace' last='Kearney'] this season as she transferred to NESAC program St. Luke's, leaving Danielle Dube as the piece to watch out for, among others, in the winter. She's coming off a fantastic freshman season with near double-double averages. On top of that, she's shown significant versatility on the court, able to play down low or at the top of the key and anywhere in-between. Hoping to see some added passing from her as a sophomore to add another dimension to her game.

[player_tooltip player_id='280910' first='Reagan' last='Ward'] - Pomperaug (2025)

Ward has made her presence felt at both the high school and AAU level, making her mark on Mass Rivals this past summer. Crafty, creative player with some significant intangibles and a desire to win at any cost, putting her body on the line on the court to do so. Impressive and consistent shooter, Ward knows when and where to get free and create havoc from downtown. Pomperaug needs to recoup production without Taylor Brennan and Alexis Mackenzie, so enter Ward to have a big senior year as a result.
