We've gotten plenty a look at some of the best basketball talent in the state through the early portion of the 2024-25 high school girls basketball season, but it's time to take a closer look at the best of the best. Let's take a trip around Maine to highlight some early season sophomore standouts.

[player_tooltip player_id='354207' first='Hope' last='Fontaine'] - Edward Little

Edward Little's offensive balanced early on has been impressive to watch and will undoubtedly be a talking point throughout the rest of this season. It's the sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='354207' first='Hope' last='Fontaine'] leading the charge in the scoring department while knocking down three-pointers with ease. Don't want to pigeon-hole her into a 3&D comparison, but she's shown great traits as a passer, defender and shooter on the floor.

Addison Jordan - Cheverus

Kylie Lamson is the focal point of this Cheverus team, there's no doubt about that, but as you look down the roster, players like Addison Jordan pop up, bonafide starters and impact players in their own right who are impressing early on. Her defensive skillset is something that will help her out tremendously in the future, a player with great basketball IQ able to intercept passes and cause havoc on the floor.

Mackenzie Delewski - Windham

Delewski is truly a jack of all trades for Windham, from being a complementary scorer to having that split-second instinct on the glass to make plays. Very alert and adaptable skillset able to be moved around and used in a plethora of different ways. About as good a defender as you can find in Maine, maybe other than her teammate, senior Stella Jarvais. High-energy, high-upside talent ready for a big sophomore year.

Paige Sevigny - Sanford

Sanford is going to make some significant noise in the AA South and already has done so with a trio of players currently scoring in double-figures to start the year. One of those players is Paige Sevigny, a talented sophomore that is getting is done both offensively and defensively. Very balanced skillset as we've come to see and a fantastic perimeter shooter at that.

Annie Whitmore - South Portland

When talking about some of the best three-point shooting teams in the state, South Portland almost certainly has to be in the conversation there. Annie Whitmore is making a case for herself to be an emerging perimeter shooting talent, knocking down a three a game at this point, which is roughly a third of her offensive production as a sophomore. Really curious to see where that will take her this season.

Isabelle Tice - Marshwood

Tice is a dominant force on the court, one of the best players we've seen in the state and arguably the best sophomore in Maine, flat out. It's showing in her offensive prowess, scoring 17 points a game and pushing 20 points a game consistently for Marshwood. That's the kind of playmaker you want at a younger age, someone who can step up when the lights shine brightest, which she does time and time again.

Angelina Keo - Deering

It will be interesting to see what Deering does this season, but one thing is for sure; Angelina Keo is making her mark on this program and trying to carve out a spot at the dinner table for one of the best sophomores in the state. Incredibly talented guard with upside everywhere in her game. Very poised and mature for an underclassman and very easily plays beyond her years on the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id='830722' first='Jordyn' last='Crump'] - Biddeford

Biddeford is riddled with injuries in the early going this season, forcing some different players to step up into bigger roles. Crump is certainly no exception to this role and has really shown herself to be a complimentary piece on the floor. Definitely expect her to be an impact starter come season's end, but right now, she's scoring in bunches and getting players involved as a passer.
