Last night, the Lady Burros of Hillsboro hosted the Lady Mustangs of Lipscomb Academy pitted as the battle of Green Hills. Both programs will without a doubt be top contenders for their prospective districts. Each team has talented young ladies who not only can do the basketball basics, but do so at a high level. Though Lipscomb Academy won the contest 65-46, both clubs got what they needed out of the matchup as they move forward to take on teams in their district.

Hillsboro is a young squad built with speed. Kids who can attack down hill and finish through contact. They can hit the open shots along the perimeter, but being aggressive and physical is what they do best. This game was a formidable test on how to prepare not only for district but for Region foes as well. Coach Stringfellow “Lipscomb is a solid basketball team that executes their X's and O's. They have size and can shoot it. They will be tough to play for any team down the road.” Hillsboro themselves isn't a bad squad. One of the better Metro Nashville teams, they are young, fun to watch, and know how to get after it. This team will be favorites to come out of their district and compete for an opportunity to go to state. Look for them to grow from this experience and be ready to dominate their district.

Lipscomb Academy has had a sensational start to their season thus far. They have been battle tested facing many clubs who have been deep into their prospective classification playoffs. Clarkrange, Goodpasture, ect., Lipscomb has seen teams that bring physicality to the table, teams that run sets efficiently, and teams that run a lot of continuity things coupled with backdoor cuts. The Lady Mustangs have come out this season with renewed energy. They have size, can beat you inside and out, play stifling defense, rebound the basketball, and compete from tip to finish. They can go about 8 to 9 deep in their roster and not have a drop off. Multiple players play two and three different positions, so it's hard to scout them. What sets them a part from most ball clubs is that they have shooters out the wazoo. Any one of them can get hot. If you think their varsity is legit, their JV isn't bad either. This team has high hopes and the horses to make a run at state contention.

Both of these clubs will be pretty good when it's all said and done. What both of them have is youth on their side. Both clubs will be teams to be reckoned with not only for this year, but for years to come. Though these teams have different styles, look for them to play hard, play smart, and be the aggressors each and every game. Two solid program, one public and one private, that will be contenders from the same area!
