How good is Muskego?

Ask yourself how many teams in the state can lose to Bradford, a solid team, no doubt, but also nearly beat Arrowhead wire-to-wire. That's the Warrior quandry of 2024-25.

Their depth is legit, and all their kids can hurt defenses and play well in their 1-3-1 trap. I had Muskego as favorites to emerge from Sectional Four in D1, and I was tepid after their opening-night defeat, but they've been world-beaters since then.

Among all the excitement with Muskego, don't forget that the Bradford game happened.

Will Neillsville continue their reign of terror in the Cloverbelt-East?

The Warriors have won each conference title since 2018-19 and most titles in recent memory.

Madi Davel has been solid thus far in her sophomore campaign. Her ability to initiate offense for others has helped the Warriors cope with the loss of now Concordia St. Paul wing Paris Opelt. Davel's numbers may not catch your eyes immediately at 9-4-4, but she's indispensable.

[player_tooltip player_id='914312' first='Sydney' last='Subke'] has continued to make shots at a high level, well above 40% from the three-point line, and has accrued a few 20-point games thus far. In the one game, shots didn't fall, but Subke still used her length to make plays on the defensive end of the floor.

Who will win the NEC?

The most up-in-the-air conference this season is the NEC.

At least four teams could beat anyone on any night in reigning champions Marinette, Freedom, Wrightstown, and Denmark. All those teams have kids who can hurt defenses in bunches.

Freedom is undefeated, but Marinette is 1-2, Wrightstown is 2-1, and Denmark is 1-2. The NEC has an abundance of parody, which makes it unpredictable.

Luxemburg-Casco, Fox Valley Lutheran, and Waupaca have all started the season well, and the race for the NEC is only beginning. Most conferences have a presumptive favorite who'll run away with the crown, which shouldn't be the case here.
