Centennial Eagles Boast an Impressive Roster

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Centennial Eagles faced the Rex Putnam Kingsmen last week, securing an impressive victory. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Eagles have a young roster this year with only two graduating seniors. The majority of the team is comprised of sophomores and juniors which will make a huge impact in the 2025-2026 basketball season. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The game was controlled by the Eagles at the start, never letting the Kinsmen pull ahead. At the end of the first quarter it was 9-2 with the Eagles pulling a large lead at the end of the half, out-scoring Putnam 19-5. The second half had a similar result with the Eagles taking an aggressive lead at the end of the third quarter, and ultimately outscoring Putnam 48-18. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Erin Sloan for the Centennial Eagles has been coaching the team for three years and hopes to continue building the program. The Eagles have not had a varsity team the past three years due to low numbers and lack of eligibility per OSAA rules. However, she is confident that with this season under their belt, they will be eligible for a varsity team next year. Sloan stated, “We have girls that believe in themselves and each other first and foremost. They have been developing an understanding of a how far their physical and mental toughness can get them collectively. We are young but strong and getting stronger every week”.&nbsp; She continues, “We love the excitement that our young players bring to our program, they have bought in to the culture we want to build and they have fun with it”.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Eagles have an impressive record of 8-4 in the season and continues to show improvement each game. Her ball handling and speed are unmatched as she makes great moves to the basket. She continues to show she is a threat on defense, averaging 5-plus steals a game. She averages over 10 points a game with just as many assists.
