Under the radar 2027s Getting it Done in Valentine's Week

This week and this late into the season, it was great to see some of those consistent players continue to get it done on the court. But what is equally exciting, are seeing those players whose season of hard work is coming together at just the right time. Check out these players who are peaking at the perfect time for a great post season run.    Sorvillo is a spark of energy and power for Ponderosa. At her height she plays great at the perimeter and in the paint. She has nice handles to assist with breaking a press or getting the Mustangs into an offense. She can also catch it on the wing and get to the basket as well as hit pull up jumpers. Jenni can also play strong with her back to the basket getting powerful buckets and rebounds in the paint. Her power is great on defense. She is aggressive and quick on the wings, getting turnovers in the full and half court. She can guard guards and posts and isn't afraid to get physical for her share of the boards. Check out Sorvillo and Ponderosa heading into the last weeks of the season.       This sophomore is all over the place but in a very good way. Her quickness causes chaos on the defensive end. Quick hands and feet keep her in front of dribblers and pressuring shooters. She is scrappy in the paint, giving great help on bigger post players and even grabbing a few rebounds. Collins is a go-to scorer for Heritage and it is easy to see why. As a SG, she can hit from the outside consistently, both off the dribble and from the catch and shoot. But her skills also allow her to get to the paint and make great passes to open teammates. Collins is one to watch into the post season and into her upperclassman years.     Watching Iben play is exciting. She is a perfect mix of guard and post at her 5'10" height. She can handle the ball in the open court and in traffic, she is a good option for pressured guards to break a press. Her greatest assets are in the mid-range. She is great from the high post, to turn a face and hit the open jumper, or drive to the basket. This forward has a great eye for the ball, pulling both offensive and defensive rebounds easily. Last is also a perfect mix on defense. She uses her height to stifle smaller guards, and get turnovers on the wings. Iben can also defend in the post, getting stops in the paint. Lakewood will be in good hands with Last in the future.     Rachel is a graceful powerhouse. She is strong in the paint, battling for buckets and rebounds on both ends. With her back to the basket, she can muscle the defense to her scoring spots, or use her skillful footwork to go right around them. Facing the rim, she can hit from mid-range, take the defense to the hoop, and even hit from three point range, making her a defensive nightmare. She becomes a nightmare for the offense when she is on defense. Her long wingspan allows her to cover ground and force steals and traps. She also nabs rebound after rebound in the paint. She isn't afraid to get physical with taller post players, keeping her solid in the paint. With Hilliard becoming a full-time varsity player after transferring to Mountain Vista, the exciting Golden Eagles will make a strong post season run.     This ThunderRidge sophomore's consistency has earned her valuable varsity minutes where she is proving that is exactly where she belongs. This guard is fundamentally sound. She can handle the ball to help in pressure situations and to get herself to great scoring spots. She makes great passing decisions from wing whether swinging the ball to an open teammate, hitting a slashing cutter or feeding the post player, she can deliver. Loveridge is also smooth with her own offensive play, making it hard for the defensive to guard her powerful drives to the basket or hitting open shots from the 2pt or 3pt. Defensively Katelyn is always moving. Using her strong frame and quick feet to keep dribblers and shooters contained. She can also battle with taller post players and definitely hold her own. This underclassman is one to watch in the post season and beyond.
