She was a consistent force on defense who was able to lock down the paint for her team. Highsmith is a physical player who is unafraid of contact. She attacked the basketball and had great timing. She was an elite shot blocker and rebounder as well. She was an elite defender who created deflections and steals throughout any contest. She also used her length to block - or alter - several shots per night. She averaged a double-double of nearly 13 points and 12 rebounds a game. Wills was also an aggressive defender who blocked or changed several shots in each contest. She was a strong post defender, and an outstanding help-side defender as well. They played smart, they played fast, and they were able to lock down the opposition. Velez-Galan was a prolific scorer in her senior season, and she was a terrific defender as well. In any game, Velez-Galan would create steals and score quickly for her squad on the other end. She pressured the basketball and had outstanding anticipation skills. In any contest, Mayo would force steals in the open court that led to easy transition hoops for her team. She handled the basketball well and could weave through the defense on her way to score or dish.
