AAU basketball is getting warmed up and before you know it, the April live period will arrive (4/25-4/27)! Let's break down the 16U squad from a program who historically has been known for producing some top tier talent. When the Shoreshots play, college coaches are sure to pack the sidelines!

[player_tooltip player_id='651476' first='Avery' last='Barth']

This season, Avery will benefit greatly from having some experience playing varsity hoops with St. John Vianney. She saw minutes in 14 games this year playing a schedule that included powerhouse teams such as Grandview Prep (FL), Virginia Academy (VA), and Montclair Immaculate (NJ). Practicing on a daily basis with teammates like [player_tooltip player_id='559135' first='Stella' last='Lockhart'], [player_tooltip player_id='559039' first='Madison' last='Kocis'] and [player_tooltip player_id='559037' first='Taylor' last='Sofilkanich'], all D1 locks, has tremendously helped her game and improved her skillset. Her 15-foot jumper has seen vast improvements from a year ago. The 5'5" combo is comfortable running the floor and does a fantastic job getting back on defense to force the turnover. Look for a swish-storm of 3-pointers and excellent ball movement.

[player_tooltip player_id='651482' first='Callie' last='Decker']

Watching a player grow before your very eyes is an awesome thing. I've followed Callie's progression over the past three years and she continues an upward trend. Her aggressive takes to the hoop remain impressive because she creates something out of seemingly nothing! On defense, expect lots of disruption in the passing lanes. I'm eager to see her evolution shooting from 15-18 feet, an area of her game which continues to improve. Her length is also sure to make an impact on the glass; very determined rebounding guard.

[player_tooltip player_id='962705' first='Jordan' last='Arnold']

Jordan's sophomore season at Cherokee turned a lot of heads. She went from playing 8 games in her rookie year to 27 this year. Her offensive arsenal consists of carving paths to the rim and draining 3's at a high clip. On her takes to the basket, she is fearless weaving through defenders and getting the bucket from a tough angle. She puts her head down and goes to work! Lots of patience and poise.

[player_tooltip player_id='865672' first='Kylee' last='Beam']

Need a defensive anchor? Kylee is your girl! From tough rebounds to blocked shots, she knows how to make big plays. The forward does a great job securing the paint and working hard for boards and put-backs. She's starting to expand her offense some, confidently stepping behind the arc to nail 3's. And though they come few and far between (for now), the ones she takes, she makes. Stretch 4??!!

[player_tooltip player_id='651486' first='Grace' last='Smith']

The leap Grace took from Year 1 to Year 2 of HS hoops was major! She saw an increase in production in stats across the board, including newfound confidence from 3-point land. The 5'9" stretch 4 poses a matchup problem for defenders because she can shoot it like a guard and though undersized at her position, plays much bigger than her height suggests.

Makayla Finnegan

After running with Mid-Atlantic Magic last year, Makayla crosses state lines into NJ for her debut with the Shoreshots. A sophomore at Archbishop Wood (PA), the 5'7" guard is not new to playing elite competition day in and day out. She loves to run and does a great job pushing the pace and getting the ball ahead. Expect fiery transition basketball and a smooth stop-and-pop mid-range jumper.

[player_tooltip player_id='761993' first='Abby' last='Sturm']

At 6'1", Abby is this team's tallest player and go-to for inside scoring. Her experiencing playing alongside Red Bank Catholic will prove fruitful when she hits the hardwood this month. She knows what it takes to compete with and against some of the most elite competition around! Look for tough rebounding, put-backs and sharp passing out of the low and high post.

[player_tooltip player_id='651481' first='Brooke' last='Jaenicke']

A high motor. Reliable 3-point shooting. Committed on defense. These are three things Brooke brings to the table that will ultimately help the Shoreshots win a lot of games this summer. I expect her to alternate between the 1 & 2 in the back court, as she is skilled at both scoring and facilitating. Her energy is absolutely contagious, something necessary to instantly gel a team and boost the chemistry.

Casey McGinn

The 5'8" combo guard brings steady ball-handling, reliable multi-level scoring and stellar defense to this team. She also does a really good job anticipating where the ball will drop off the rim to grab the rebound. She's a threat from long-range and is one of those players that as soon as she sees one 3-pointer drop, many more are sure to follow.
