Featured in this article are elite bigs to keep an eye on as we dive into grassroots season. They dominate the boards and dominate the paint overall. Their on-court impact speaks for itself. After stellar junior-year campaigns, the ladies below are carrying that momentum forward in what looks to be a promising spring and summer.

Cydnee has the size and mentality to dominate the paint regardless of her opponent. She imposes her will with ease and will be a huge difference maker, especially in up-and-down, 3pt heavy contests due to more rim-runs and offensive rebound opportunities. Cydnee runs the floor well and aggressively establishes position inside. Her volleyball background may play a role in her intensity and athleticism. Few bigs can contain Cydnee at the high school level from a physical standpoint. She will be the face of Why Not Premier 17u.

Alana has been a standout for several programs (Buena Park High, St. Joseph High, [program_tooltip program_id='713882' first='Cal' last='Sparks'] EYBL). She knows how to play with other great players, essential for team success in grassroots. Alana covers so much ground as an off-ball defender. Tremendous potential on that end of the floor. She is a legit thief defensively. Guards who penetrate the paint have to be very careful with the ball when she is in the area. Almost 4 steals per game this past high school season! Alana is a double-double machine who can also hit the open jumper. She has pinpoint accuracy on outlet passes off defensive rebounds. Relentless pursuit of the ball has resulted in offensive rebounding dominance. Alana also plays with a certain type of confidence and swagger that will be must-see in the frontcourt this spring and summer.

E'Niece is the type of big guards would love to play with. She has no interest in being a point forward. E'Niece doesn't like to dominate the paint, she loves it! As a scorer, she has a fearless, relentless approach that many bigs need but lack inside. E'Niece has all the tools you're looking for defensively. Low defensive stance, active hands, and great anticipation. She constantly generates steals and deflections at a high rate for her position. Plenty of raw talent as an on-ball and off-ball defender. Several fastbreak opportunities on the horizon for her squad this spring/summer.

This 2-sport standout (volleyball) is a stretch big and all-around athlete. Abby is very fundamentally sound. She keeps opposing bigs uncomfortable and away from the basket. Very mobile with soft hands to catch and finish around the basket. Abby is quick off her feet with an even quicker 2nd jump. She has more than enough skill to play on the wing exclusively. Her ranking is no fluke whatsoever. Abby is long, skilled, and a prototypical modern-day prospect.

Madilyn is one of the more versatile defenders in the entire state. She is another volleyball player with traits that clearly translate to hoops. Madilyn plays her role to perfection and doesn't even need the ball. She is an enforcer inside and plays very hard. Earned All-CIF honors as a sophomore. Madilyn may be a bit undersized, but she has consistently outperformed quality bigs in head-to-head matchups. Madilyn had three games on the high school season with 20+ rebounds and 5+ blocks each, all of which led to blowout victories.
