Last weekend, in Appleton, we had our third PGH Freshman Showcase. I enjoy seeing the new faces of high school basketball before the season, and plenty of players at the event will make their mark on the high school season this winter. Today, we're discussing all the players from Team Four of the 5v5 portion of the event and highlighting what they brought to the floor. We'll keep this up until we wrap up all ten 5v5 teams that played at the Freshman Showcase.

[player_tooltip player_id='882579' first='Raya' last='Zurfluh']

Zurfluh is a hard-nosed guard who showed some skill on the offensive end of the floor. She handled the ball well, made plays, and made the correct reads when the ball was in her hands. She also brings an edge to the defensive end of the floor that I appreciated. No matter when I watched her, she added a disruptive presence on the perimeter defensively.

[player_tooltip player_id='996631' first='Violet' last='Kohlbeck']

I liked the versatility that Kohlbeck brought to the floor on both ends. She demonstrated her ability to play with the ball on the offensive end of the floor, making plays for herself and others. I also liked her willingness to dig in and rebound on either end of the floor. Her ability to impact the game on either end of the floor is something that will impress her high school coaches and could earn her opportunities to play.

[player_tooltip player_id='1309211' first='Rachel' last='Breska']

In the time I watched Breska play in the 5v5 portion of the event, I thought that she did most of her work away from the ball on the offensive end of the floor. I was impressed by how skilled and direct she was with the ball in her hands. She was also a player who didn't hesitate to shoot the ball from the perimeter. I loved the confidence she showed when I watched her, especially on the offensive end of the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id='874411' first='Ella' last='Grable']

Grable was a player who immediately impressed me during the 3v3 portion of the event. Grable isn't afraid to shoot the ball from the perimeter anytime she's given space to knock down shots from the perimeter. She's a skilled kid who can create space with the ball in her hands or get downhill and finish around the basket. She's another kid who had plenty of confidence when she was on the floor, and played well anytime I watched her in the 3v3 or 5v5 portions.
