Fresh Faces: 2029 Freshman Guards Pt. 2

High school years tend to fly by once you step on the scene as a freshman. As athletes graduate and move on to bigger and better things, the door opens for the next generation of young athletes ready to step into the limelight and make a name for themselves. The 2029 class in the state of Missouri has a lot of promising athletes, and we are looking forward to seeing them this winter. Here is a look at more guards to be on the lookout for.      Ross is the true definition of big things in small packages. She displays a lot of the qualities and characteristics you want in a point guard. She has good leadership skills, talking and communicating while on the court. Ross also leads by example, always being one of the toughest players with a high motor. She handles the ball very well and is a nightmare to keep contained as she possesses a speed you can't keep up with. Her vision and distributing ability are way above average, which makes the game easier for her at her position. Feisty on-ball defender and does not shy away from contact or challenges. She also shoots the ball pretty well.       A silky smooth guard with good length, IQ, and skill. What has impressed me most about EP is the pose and pace she plays with. She never gets sped up and always shows a cool, calm, and collected demeanor. Porter is a very versatile athlete who shows a solid handle, a great midrange, and the ability to finish around the basket. She uses her length well on the defensive end to get deflections and steals, and does a decent job of rebounding on both sides of the ball.       A very skilled and very high-IQ shooting guard that stretches the floor with her range, shooting the ball. Epping is probably one of the top shooters in the 2029 class and doesn't shy away from letting it fly. Shooting is just one part of her game that sets her apart, but her ability to finish around the basket with soft floaters from either hand, as well as be a good passer, helps her to be multidimensional on the offensive end. She's solid on defense and already shows a really good team defensive concept off the ball.       Files is a crafty point guard who makes plays and is what you want in a true point guard. She shows a good IQ and decision-making skills to go along with it. She does a really good job of reading plays before they happen and delivers the ball to teammates on time. She also has a really good handle and keeps the defense off balance with the array of moves in her bag. Madelyn is a good shooter and makes defenses pay when given open looks.       Solid guard with good size and motor. Plays extremely hard on both ends. Kaiya has a lot of the small characteristics you look for in a young athlete. She talks on defense, she boxes out more times than not, and she makes the extra pass. She has a good handle and shows the ability to shoot the ball from midrange. She's also displayed good lateral quickness on defense and didn't shy away from being physical.
