Buccaneers Ready to Raid The Court

The Haughton High School Lady Buccaneers, a Class 5A team in the Bossier District, are poised for a competitive basketball season. Under the leadership of Head Coach Jenna Bolin, the team is eager to demonstrate the results of their off-season dedication and skill development. [player_tooltip player_id='947900' first='Bella' last='Hammond'], player #25, is a promising senior forward at Haughton High School. Standing at 5'11", Bella has been a four-year starter for the Lady Bucs. Following a successful junior year, she is anticipated to continue her achievements in her final season with the team. Bella possesses the versatile skill set to play all five positions on the court, which is a significant asset to both her and her teammates. Her abilities include creating space, handling the ball when necessary, and controlling the floor as a forward. She is a scoring threat from all areas, effectively working from outside to the inside of the paint, which keeps opposing defenses off-balance. Defensively, Bella is a formidable presence. She is an exceptional shot blocker and rim protector, known for her strength and athleticism. She presents a challenging match-up in the paint, requiring considerable effort from opponents. She is certainly a player to observe closely this upcoming season.     [player_tooltip player_id='947881' first='Skylar' last='Branch'] Senior is a point guard for Haught High School Class of 2026. Skylar is a four-year starter for the Bucs. She is coming off a great junior season. Standing at 6'0, Skylar possesses the skill and ability to play all 5 positions. Skylar possesses great ball-handling skills and driving abilities to the rim. Skylar can score from all levels as a knockdown shooter, so don't leave her open. Her height gives her an advantage in seeing the floor she has great basketball IQ. She possesses great passing skills, dropping dimes for her teammates. On the defense side, she can create you just as many opportunities as on offense. She can get rebounds and great second chances, or get steals or clog up the lanes and force or create turnovers. She keeps the pressure on the ball. Skylar is a must-see player in North Louisiana.     [player_tooltip player_id='1350362' first='Sariah' last='Shannon'] keeps on impressing with her shooting ability. She has put in the work over the summer to be a knockdown shooter from mid-range, and occasionally can step back and knock one down from the arc. Sariah has unmatched hustle and effort on the offense and the defense side of the ball. Her high motor is unmatched.     Leigh Williamson is a point guard for sophomore for Haughton High School, class of 2028. Leigh contributed a lot to the Lady Bucs last season as a freshman. Leigh possesses great ball-handling skills and the confidence to match. She possesses the skills to shoot 3-point shots and drive to the rim, and draw fouls. Leigh is very vocal on the floor. Leigh was making big strides last spring, but unfortunately, she sustained a knee injury and is currently rehabbing. The Lady Bucs will hopefully get her back on the court later in the season. Wishing you a speedy recovery.     Trinity Smith-Compton is a sophomore forward for the Haughton High School class of 2028. Trinity is a returning starter for the Lady Bucs. Trinity shines the most on defense. She is known to be one of the Bucs' toughest defenders on the team. With Trinity's skill set and height, she can force the ball over and protect the paint and rim. Trinity can also work and play inside the paint and play the lanes, recovering rebounds and getting the put back on second chance points, or hitting you with a mid-range shot and shooting from the 3 when the opportunity is given.     [player_tooltip player_id='1353759' first='Emma' last='Bell'], is a power forward/center for Haughton High School, class of 2028. Emma is a formidable presence on the court, standing at 5'11" with a strong physique, making her an enforcer in the paint and an excellent rim protector. She consistently challenges opponents who attempt to drive into the paint, as she never shies away from a challenge. While Emma excels and is most effective in the paint, she also possesses a commendable mid-range game and frequently utilizes the backboard for banked shots, rarely missing. Emma is adept at setting effective screens and cutting to the rim for easy scoring opportunities. Her defensive prowess is particularly noteworthy; she skillfully uses her size and strength to outmaneuver other players on the court, making her an exceptional rebounder and putback artist. Emma dedicated her summer to enhancing her skills and has successfully incorporated new elements into her game. Emma is currently not active due to medical reason at this time. Looking forward to seeing her once she returns to the court.    /ev
