Team Preview: Harmon Hawks

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>As we gear up for the 2025/26 basketball year, we want to take the time to preview teams in the great state of Kansas. These articles will give readers a look inside different conferences and the teams that make them up. This article takes a look at the Harmon Lady Hawks, located in Wyandotte County, KS.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Harmon High School is a part of the Meadowlark Conference, which consists of teams in the Kansas City, Topeka, and Atchison area schools. in 2024/25 Harmon had a conference record of 0-9 and and overall record of 3-15. They are led by Coach Darrian Lockett, who is in her 5th year as head coach for the program. Coach Lockett continues to push for growth within the program. He's been able to do a good job despite the lack of true interest within the sport in the area.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><em>Key Returners</em></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Keyaria Shabazz</strong> – A sophomore forward who lead the team in every statistical category as freshman a year ago.   Shabazz is a second team all conference selection a year ago and looking to come back this season even better. Keyaria is a strong downhill driver and shows good touch around the basket. Shows the ability to shoot the ball but I expect her to be more consistent with it this year. She's a good rebounder on both sides. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Karyme Maldonado</strong> – A junior forward that does a lot of her work near the paint.  She's strong and a good rebounder. Coach Lockett said he'll be depending on her more this year and plans to push to get the best out of her this season.
