Talent on the Rise for Sherwood Girls JV Basketball

Sherwood JV Girls Basketball has been working hard together over this past summer and fall, and the talent in this group is truly something incredible. After scouting and coaching for many years, this JV team has to be one of the best younger teams I've seen in a long time. When speaking with some of Sherwood's program coaches, we discussed that the JV can handle their own against the Varsity. They are a strong group of players filled with skill and athleticism. It's been fun to watch them grow from summer to winter basketball. Now let's meet some of Sherwood's rising stars.    Emmery Flower is a sophomore combo guard out of Sherwood High School. She is an excellent shooter and is a threat from well beyond the perimeter. She proved she is capable of logo range, after hitting a buzzer-beating shot recently in a matchup against Benson. Emmery is very quick too and has great court presence and vision. She is a captain and true leader on the JV team. Her IQ level for the game is high. She has a long wingspan and is a great defender. She is a strong shot blocker and rebounder. She truly is an all-around package player. I wouldn't be surprised if she earns more varsity minutes as the season progresses. Keep up the great work, Emmery.     Jaycee Christensen is a freshman combo guard out of Sherwood High School. She plays with confidence and poise. She can handle the ball well and is an assist maker out there on the court. She can also shoot well, attack and drive, and get to the rim quickly. Jaycee is a good communicator and vocal on the court. She's also a team player and encouraging to her peers. Her leadership abilities will carry her far throughout her career at Sherwood. She's been working hard in training and camps in the offseason, and she is a true example that hard work pays off.     [player_tooltip player_id='1308372' first='Journey' last='Sitton'] is a rising Freshman out of Sherwood High School. She is a power forward, and she has many strengths in basketball. She has a high level of IQ on the court. She knows when to make the right pass and when to cut to the basket. With her taller size, she is strong, quick, and excellent at rebounding.   She's a knockout clutch shooter, and this athlete has quite the range. She is very versatile on the floor. She can dribble the length of the floor and also post up her opponents. She's been putting in a lot of work with her teammates in the offseason season. Journey adds value and depth and leadership to this impressive team. She is definitely going to have a strong basketball career at Sherwood and beyond.     Peyton Kostel is another rising star out of Sherwood. She brings knowledge to the game with an impressive IQ for her age. A leader out on the floor, Peyton has been working hard in her off-season and it shows. Peyton is definitely a hidden gem out on the court. It is her attention to the little details on the floor that work towards her advantage during competition. Staying focused and in the zone are strong qualities that Peyton possesses. Her goals for the future are to help Sherwood be a winning program. She has goals to make it to college on a basketball scholarship. Peyton emphasizes that Division 1 would be a dream come true, but is humble enough to know that any level of play after high school would be an achievement.
