<p>As the <strong>2025–26 high school basketball season</strong> had kicked off, here at <strong>Prep Girls Hoops</strong>, we want to take a moment to preview local area teams and the conferences they compete in. These features will spotlight both returning athletes and newcomers who are poised to make an impact. In this article, we turn our attention to the Pembroke Hill program.</p>

<p>The Pembroke competes in the Crossroads District Conference which features programs from the Kansas city areas of Missouri. In the <strong>2024–25 season</strong>, the Lady Raiders finished 7 - 12 a year ago.</p>

<p>The program is led by Liz Manohan, who is entering her <strong>3rd year at the school</strong>. </p>

<p><strong>Key Returners: </strong></p>

<p><strong>Sella Shumate</strong> - Shumate is a 6'1" post who led the team in nearly every statistical category last season and earned Conference Player of the Year honors. As a junior, she has expanded her game by showing the ability to knock down the open shot from deep. She is a relentless rebounder and an effective shot blocker. With strong footwork in the paint, she consistently finishes well with her dominant hand.</p>

<p><strong>Charlie Windman</strong> - Senior wing who defends well both on and off the ball. She is an excellent shot blocker at the wing position and does a great job helping off the ball. With active hands, she consistently disrupts passing lanes. Offensively, she has a solid handle and shoots the ball well from deep.</p>

<p><strong>Maren Sword</strong> - Sophomore guard Maren is a lethal shooter from downtown. She has a strong understanding of spacing to create open looks, and it doesn't take much time for the ball to leave her hands and find the bottom of the basket.</p>

<p><strong>Phoebe Toney</strong> - Senior guard Toney brings leadership, energy, and consistency to the guard position for the Lady Raiders. She is a solid defender who does an excellent job containing the ball and anticipating passing lanes when playing off the ball. Offensively, she is a consistent long-range shooter, handles the ball well, and makes smart decisions throughout the game.</p>

<p><strong>Newcomers:</strong></p>

<p><strong>Hadley Shumate</strong> - Freshman wing Hadley brings high energy and a strong defensive presence for the Lady Raiders. She is a solid defender both on and off the ball. Offensively, she does an excellent job reading plays ahead of time and finding the open teammate. She finishes well around the basket and has shown the ability to knock down the three.</p>
