Don’t Sleep On Production In This State

Don’t Sleep On Production In This State

Pundits may point out that we may not have many top players here ranked nationally, which may or may not be true. When you look at certain publications, you hardly see Tennessee girls ranked in the top 10 nationally. In my opinion, it's ok. We know our value and how much our girls are worth.

This state is known for its women's basketball. Sure, we are also known for football, but women's basketball is our bread and butter. We have a wide array of styles that fit all levels of play at the collegiate level. From girls who can take someone off the bounce and elevate into a shot to those who are lethal catch-and-shoot assassins, we have those who can put the ball in the net. Even though I am just talking about scoring, there are plenty of other qualities we have here in the state that translate to the next level.

Another thing to point out, you don't have to be a big-time recruit to make an impact at the next level. Embrace where your feet are and launch from there. In the latest 3FG% Iyanna Moore, a former Blackman alum suiting up for Notre Dame, is shooting 44.62% from 3, while Brentwood alum Ella Ryan, a freshman at Quinnipiac, is shooting 44.05% from 3. Perspectively speaking, that puts them both ranked 18th and 20th nationally. This past weekend, Lauren Hurst from Cleveland High, playing for Tennessee, and Harmonie Ware, a former Bradley Central alum, playing for Arkansas, went toe to toe just like they were in high school on national tv. Don't tell me you have to be nationally ranked to produce at the next level. There are plenty more up and down the D1, D2, D3, NAIA, and JUCO levels producing as well. With this graduating class and the next wave after them, there will be plenty more from this state making an impact as they should.

My point is this: We as a state may not have a ton of girls ranked nationally, but when it comes to skill and production, we are right there with the best of them. Current prospects, stay in the lab because you never know when your breakthrough will be. You just have to be ready to launch when it happens and grab the reins of your opportunity. It doesn't matter where you are (play), or what level you will be playing on at the next level, you've etched your name in the sisterhood of women's basketball in the state of Tennessee. Go out there and show the world what high school hoops is all about in this state.
