Non-Region 1A: Bamberg-Ehrhardt vs. Williston-Elko

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Williston-Elko and Bamberg-Ehrhardt may both be 1A teams but they play in different Upper State regions. The Red Raiders are one of six teams that compete in Region 4-A while the Blue Devils are one of eight teams that compete in Region 3-A.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>One thing that the Red Raiders and Blue Devils had in common outside of playing in the same classification was the number of wins they had compiled this season. Both Bamberg-Ehrhardt and Williston-Elko entered Thursday's play at Cooley Gymnasium with eight wins, but the 60-24 victory for the Red Raiders improved their record to 9-3. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We at Prep Girls Hoops were on hand for the day's contest. The sophomore guard led the Red Raiders' efforts with a 19-point performance. Out of the 19 she scored, 13 occurred in the second half. Sanders understands that defensive pressure can leave many opposing ball handlers turnover-prone and will translate to additional opportunities for the offense to put points on the board. Even though much of what she got accomplished was on account of attacking the rim, Sanders can also connect from long range. Folk is one that represents the “experience” element of that equation for Bamberg-Ehrhardt and she added 13 points to the Red Raiders' total. A good bit of Bamberg-Ehrhardt's early efforts were paced by Folk as she tallied 10 of her 13 in the first half of play. Folk has been playing at the varsity level since she was an eighth grader and her ability to corral rebounds provides a massive boost to her team. Williams, who is part of the Red Raiders' 2026 graduating class, concluded her game with 12 points. Out of the 12 Williams placed on the scoreboard, nine occurred in the first half. It appeared that if Williams had the ball in close proximity to the rim, it would be an automatic two points for Bamberg-Ehrhardt. Corbit was the fourth of that quartet and all four were from the Red Raiders' starting five. Corbit added 12 points to the Bamberg-Ehrhardt cause. There were only two 3-pointers that were made all game. Both departed from Corbit's hands. Corbit is a mutli-sport athlete who also competes in track and field events in addition to what she gets accomplished on the basketball court. She thrives as a two guard in the Red Raiders' backcourt but can also put herself in position to haul in offensive rebounds. Sanders still managed to put forth a valiant effort with nine points. Sanders is a force to be reckoned with in the interior between her scoring capabilities and her build. She does not shy away from attempting tough shots and understands that playing in close proximity to the basket means physicality, drawing contact and getting to the free throw line.
