<p>Petersburg versus Prince George's: a classic cross-county rivalry game that really started like a true rock fight. In the first four minutes of the game, the two teams were only able to exchange a single free throw each. After a sloppy first quarter, Prince George was able to lead Petersburg 9 to 6 after the quarter.</p>

<p>Sophomore guard [player_tooltip player_id='1644479' first='Honestii' last='Morton'] who picked up two quick fouls in the first quarter was able to come out in the second quarter with a nice step back jumper. They were able to get back-to-back buckets with a layup from Harley Perkins. That bucket was followed by a one basket by [player_tooltip player_id='1644479' first='Honestii' last='Morton'] with a floater inside the lane. Petersburg got a much-needed offensive rebound put back by [player_tooltip player_id='1426346' first='Aaliyah' last='Turner'] and that was followed by a steal and layup by [player_tooltip player_id='1426082' first='Lailah' last='Graves']. Petersburg was able to cap a 9-0 run with a three-pointer from Ikera Powell and a nice reverse layup from Naomie Jackson to tie the game at 15-15. [player_tooltip player_id='1644479' first='Honestii' last='Morton'] was able to stop the bleeding with a nice baseline pull-up jumper. And [player_tooltip player_id='1426082' first='Lailah' last='Graves'] rattled off 8 straight points for Petersburg and they were able to go into halftime leading the game 23 to 19!</p>

<p>Start of the third quarter Petersburg's leading scorer [player_tooltip player_id='468150' first='Donniya' last='Mason'] was finally able to get on the board with three free throws. </p>

<p>After a free throw by [player_tooltip player_id='1644479' first='Honestii' last='Morton'], [player_tooltip player_id='1644080' first='Sophia' last='Dibler'] was able to get back-to-back layups in the paint for Prince George to tie the game at 26 points. Prince George was able to go on a run of its own. They got back-to-back steals and a layup from Townley Williams. Harley Perkins was able to hit a corner three and [player_tooltip player_id='1644479' first='Honestii' last='Morton'] got to the lane again for another and one basket. [player_tooltip player_id='1644080' first='Sophia' last='Dibler'] was able to get another layup capping a 16-to-0 run to take a 12-point lead. Ikera Powell was able to get an offensive rebound put back to cut the lead to 10 and after 3 quarters Prince George led Petersburg High School 38 to 28.</p>

<p>After a scoreless minute start to the fourth quarter, Naomi Jackson broke the ice with 3 free throws. [player_tooltip player_id='1426082' first='Lailah' last='Graves'] followed that with a pull-up bank shot in the paint. 2 1/2 minutes in [player_tooltip player_id='1644080' first='Sophia' last='Dibler'] was able to get Prince George's first points of the quarter with a nice jump shot. [player_tooltip player_id='1426082' first='Lailah' last='Graves'] was able to knife inside the lane with the left-hand layup. But a nice set play out of bounds from the sideline Angel Lackey was able to get an easy layup to extend Prince George's lead to seven points on the very next possession. Naomi Jackson was able to hit a pull-up jumper in the lane to cut the lead back to five points. Valerie Clark was able to hit a big turnaround jumper in the lane. At this junction, every point of the game was crucial for Petersburg, guard Elaysia Fields hit two free throws to cut the lead back to five points. Valerie Clark was able to hit another bucket in the lane, but [player_tooltip player_id='1426082' first='Lailah' last='Graves'] what's quickly able to answer with a layup on the other end for Petersburg. after the two missed free throws from [player_tooltip player_id='1644080' first='Sophia' last='Dibler'] she was able to get a pass cutting to the lane for a layup to put Prince George up by nine points with a minute and 38 seconds left. But Petersburg was able to score with the clock stopped with two free throws from Naomi Jackson to cut the lead to five points. Peterborough had to start playing the foul game with 32 seconds on the clock they were able to create a turnover on the inbound with an offensive foul. Now down five points [player_tooltip player_id='468150' first='Donniya' last='Mason'] was able to hit a big-time corner three to cut the lead to two points! The insueing inbounds pass she was able to get a steal and get fouled and go to the free-throw line and knock down two clutch free throws to tie the game at 48! Prince George just missed a pass right under the basket that went out of bounds and now Petersburg had the ball with 9.5 seconds left in the game. Dribbling up the court and Prince George over the foul limit [player_tooltip player_id='1426082' first='Lailah' last='Graves'] got found in went to the free-throw line to knock down 1 of two free throws to put Petersburg up by two points. With 3.4 seconds left in the game Prince George was able to get an inbound pass in and [player_tooltip player_id='1644080' first='Sophia' last='Dibler'] got a clean look at a three-point shot that just missed and Petersburg completed to come back and survive with the 49 to 48 win!</p>
