With just over a month left in the high school basketball season, things are heating up as we race towards the playoffs. It's a lot to keep track of for anybody, which is why we do our best to watch as many games as possible and break things down for you. There is a lot on the docket for the weekend; marquee matchups, another great Breakdown Sports event, and records that could be broken. Here's a look at what Friday and Saturday have in store.

Greenway closes in on 5,060

There's been a lot of talk over the past couple of weeks about record breaking. And rightfully so, with the previous state all-time scoring record of 5,060 points, set by Rebekah Dahlman of Braham in 2013, being officially broken last Tuesday by Crosby-Ironton's star senior [player_tooltip player_id='205310' first='Tori' last='Oehrlein']. Not far behind Tori is Providence Academy's [player_tooltip player_id='252381' first='Maddyn' last='Greenway'], who sits at 4,993 points following the Lions 93-56 victory over Minnehaha Academy last Saturday.

Providence has two games on the schedule this weekend, one at Blake on Friday evening and the other versus Rosemount at the Breakdown Community Clash on Saturday afternoon. Just seven points shy of the 5,000 mark, it's more than likely that Maddyn will eclipse that milestone at The Blake School on Friday. Saturday's matchup will prove a bit trickier, though.

With a record of 16-1, Rosemount is currently one of the strongest teams in the state. There's no doubt that the Irish defense will be keyed in on Greenway, aiming to limit her contributions to the offense. That being said, the Kentucky commit usually finds a way to put points on the scoreboard, even against the toughest of opponents. With Maddyn reaching totals of 47, 38, 34, 30, and 42 points in her last five games, it's entirely possible that Dahlman's record gets crossed for the second time.

Lakeville North vs Prior Lake

After a slow start to the season, Prior Lake has been surging in recent weeks, winning their last four games in a row. Late Tuesday the Lakers, albeit somewhat unexpectedly, served red-hot Rosemount their only loss of the season. Junior guard [player_tooltip player_id='764229' first='Toni' last='Fisher'] leads the team, averaging just under 20 points per contest. The Lakers are currently 9-10 on the season and 6-4 in conference play.

Though the season has been rocky for the young Lakeville North squad, the Panthers roster is bursting with talent. Led by the third-ranked prospect in the 2028 class, [player_tooltip player_id='644878' first='Sahara' last='Wilson'], coach Andy Berkvam's squad has also seen consistent contributions from sophomore forward [player_tooltip player_id='897889' first='Madilynn' last='Bell'] and freshman guard [player_tooltip player_id='1246846' first='Nivaya' last='Koles']. The Panthers are currently 8-12 on the season and 6-5 in the South Suburban Conference. They will host the Lakers on Friday at 7:00. We'll be sure to tune in.
