Central Valley vs Mt Spokane

Context

Central Valley entered after a one point loss in round one. Mt Spokane came in looking to rebound from a heavy opening defeat. Both teams were battling injuries and playing to extend their season.

What Stood Out

Mt Spokane opened the game with urgency and jumped out to a 7–0 run, looking sharp and aggressive in the opening minutes. That energy proved difficult to sustain. Central Valley weathered the burst, closed the first quarter with an 11–8 lead, and gradually asserted control. A 13–4 second quarter created separation and gave the Bears a 24–12 halftime advantage. The third quarter was more competitive at 15–12, but Central Valley never lost its grip on the tempo. The fourth quarter highlighted experience and depth, as Central Valley's maturity and execution widened the gap while Mt Spokane's limited rotation due to injury became more apparent. The final score of 54–31 reflected steady control more than late drama.

Who Stood Out

Rash battled inside against a Central Valley team that attacks the glass with purpose. She finished with a team high eight points, all coming from the low post, and absorbed contact throughout the night. Her willingness to compete on the interior kept Mt Spokane from being completely overwhelmed in the paint. Even as possessions became harder to generate, she stayed engaged and physical.

Henry led the way with 22 points and influenced the game well beyond scoring. She applied full court pressure, disrupted ball handlers, and turned defense into offense repeatedly. Her ability to defend end to end gave Central Valley momentum during critical stretches. When the game needed a stabilizing force, she provided it.

Patshkowski continues to play with poise and control. She changes pace effectively and creates space, finding angles where they do not appear to exist. Her 14 points came within the natural flow of the offense and never felt forced. She dictated tempo and ensured that Central Valley never rushed possessions.

Lanphere understands exactly who she is within the offense. She is dangerous as a catch and shoot threat, but her decision making is what separates her. She moves the ball quickly when her shot is not there and keeps the offense from stalling. Her discipline and work rate helped Central Valley maintain offensive rhythm throughout the night.

This elimination game was decided by steadiness. Central Valley responded to early adversity with composure and gradually tightened control. Mt Spokane showed flashes, especially early, but depth challenges and sustained pressure proved difficult to overcome. The Bears move forward with confidence and balance, while the Wildcats close the season having battled through adversity to the final whistle.
