Mt. Spokane @ Ridgeline

Context: An 8 seed vs 1 seed battle with postseason stakes. Ridgeline entered looking to justify its top seed. Mt Spokane looked to prove it belonged.

What Stood Out

Ridgeline removed any doubt early. From the opening tip, the Falcons applied full court pressure and paired it with relentless half court defense, jumping out to a 24–2 lead by the end of the first quarter. Mt Spokane struggled to settle in and looked stunned by the tempo and intensity. The Falcons followed that up with another strong quarter, outscoring the Wildcats 21–11 in the second while continuing to rotate fresh legs and maintain pace. The third quarter shifted in tone as Ridgeline eased pressure and allowed less experienced players to see minutes, but control never wavered. The fourth quarter mirrored the third, and the final score of 65–36 reflected a game defined by the opening stretch.

Who Stood Out

Sheridan finished with 18 points and looked composed from start to finish. She defended the ball with discipline and intensity, setting the tone for Ridgeline's pressure defense. Offensively, she was efficient and decisive, but what stood out most was her vision. Her ability to make timely, accurate passes elevated the entire unit and kept the offense flowing.

Axton led the game with 19 points, an impressive showing for a freshman in a playoff matchup. She ran the floor hard, found open space, and operated within the rhythm of the offense without forcing action. Her poise stood out as much as her production. She played beyond her years and never appeared overwhelmed by the moment.

Crowley scored 14 points and did so with efficiency and control. Her scoring came inside the paint through steady footwork and strong finishes. There was nothing rushed about her game, and her confidence was clear every time she touched the ball. On the defensive end, she continued to anchor the interior and limit second chance opportunities.

Cestnik embraced the role of pace changer for Mt Spokane. When the Wildcats were able to break Ridgeline's press, she worked to get them organized and into offensive sets. Her understanding of spacing and tempo helped steady stretches that could have unraveled further. She competed through adversity and never stopped attacking.

Morris provided a spark in limited minutes and made the most of her opportunity. With the junior varsity season ending, she has transitioned fully into the varsity rotation, and her energy showed. She attacked the glass, ran the floor, and looked comfortable within the pace of the game. In a tough matchup, she emerged as a bright spot.

This game was decided in the first eight minutes. Ridgeline's pressure, depth, and composure reflected why it earned the top seed. Mt Spokane showed resilience but was forced to play catch up from the opening tip. As the postseason continues, Ridgeline advances with momentum, while Mt Spokane turns its attention to the next challenge with lessons learned from facing the standard.
