Last week we published the winter update of the Prep Girls Hoops Class of 2027 rankings. Two players were removed from the list – one left the state, the other retired from basketball – and added 17 newcomers. That brings our total number of ranked juniors in Minnesota to 165. Click here to read about the top new forwards. This is part 2 of our evaluations on the new guards and multi-position players.

Mierau has become one of Southern Minnesota's most accomplished small-school standouts. After averaging 18.5 points, 6.4 rebounds and 3 assists last winter, her production remains strong. A true three-level scorer, Maycie can heat up from deep, attack the lane and finish through contact. She sees the floor well and creates for teammates while playing with poise and aggression. Defensively she anticipates passes and converts turnovers into points. Fearless and steady, Mierau is a difference-maker.

Guetzlaff is a steady presence at the point guard spot. A strong ball handler who plays with pace, she gets downhill aggressively and pressures defenses by attacking gaps. Alexa averages just under 12 points per game and can stretch the floor with deep threes. She never lets up, defending with quick feet and sharp instincts to generate steals and deflections. Comfortable running the offense, Guetzlaff brings control and competitiveness to Red Wing's backcourt.

Seppala provides a spark whenever Farmington needs one. Aggressive and confident, she creates her own shot with a polished pull-up jumper and quality footwork. Maddie uses a smooth spin move in traffic and shows strong body control finishing at the rim. She competes defensively and plays with energy on both ends. Seppala's ability to generate offense off the bounce makes her a legitimate scoring option.

Glover is a versatile, physically strong competitor who thrives anywhere on the floor. Equally comfortable on the perimeter or in the post, she averaged 12 points per game this winter as the second-leading scorer on a 21-win team. Shanyce can stretch the defense with a smooth jumper or attack the rim with explosiveness. She rebounds with purpose, sees the floor well and passes effectively. A committed defender with a strong motor, Glover affects the game in multiple ways.

Hirst quietly does all the little things that lead to winning. Her production has climbed from last year's averages of 8 points and 6 rebounds per game, and her consistency stands out. Carlee defends well both on and off the ball, reads plays instinctively and has a knack for tracking down rebounds and loose balls. A disciplined, hardworking player, Hirst continues to improve through steady effort and attention to detail.

Mitchell can flat out score. She poured in 33 points with 16 rebounds at the Breakdown Community Clash when we watched, showcasing her workhorse mentality. The 5'8 guard handles the ball well, finishes consistently and is one of the best in Minnesota at the free-throw line. With key graduations, Carly has embraced a larger leadership role this year and appears to relish the responsibility. Strong and aggressive, she shoots with authority and competes every possession.
