Milan High School played host to a packed weekend of competitive hoops as the Battle in the Mitten brought together a solid mix of talent across multiple classes. From explosive guard play to strong performances in the paint, the event delivered plenty of standout moments and under-the-radar names worth tracking. With college coaches in attendance, several players made the most of their opportunity and showed why they're worth keeping an eye on moving forward.

Reese, a Grand Valley State University commit representing [program_tooltip program_id='714462' first='Michigan' last='Premier'], turned in a strong showing with her versatility on full display throughout the weekend. The lengthy, athletic guard made an impact in multiple areas, crashing the glass effectively and pushing the pace in transition. She showed good vision as a passer on the move, consistently finding teammates in stride, while also proving she can score it herself—whether knocking down perimeter shots or attacking the rim with confidence. Her all-around play was a key factor in helping her team capture the tournament title.

Carley, a guard for [program_tooltip program_id='1226083' first='West' last='Michigan Drive'], put together an impressive weekend with her ability to score the basketball at a consistent clip. She showed a strong feel for the game, making smart decisions and impacting play beyond just scoring, including knocking down shots with deep range from beyond the arc. On the defensive end, she competed with intensity and made things difficult for opposing guards. With her skill set and overall approach, she looks like a player capable of competing at the next level, and her performance here should start drawing increased attention from college programs.

Julia, a guard for Factory, had a strong weekend highlighted by her efficient perimeter shooting and offensive versatility. She consistently knocked down three-point shots at a high clip and showed the ability to create for herself with a smooth pull-up jumper in the midrange. Her steady decision-making and overall composure helped her team advance all the way to the championship game. On the defensive end, she also competed well and showed she can hold her own against quality backcourt competition.

Brooklyn, a post player for [program_tooltip program_id='962114' first='Lady' last='FVV'], was a dominant presence inside throughout the weekend. She anchored the paint as an elite rim protector, altering and blocking shots while controlling the glass at a high level. A consistent double-double threat, she made her impact felt on both ends with her rebounding and interior scoring. Offensively, she showed excellent footwork around the rim, finishing with touch and efficiency, and frequently drew contact, earning trips to the free-throw line where she capitalized on her opportunities.

Frankie, an inside-out forward for Real, showcased a well-rounded game throughout the weekend by creating problems for defenses at multiple levels. She was effective with her back to the basket, finishing through contact around the rim, while also stepping out and knocking down shots from three-point range—including a clutch triple in a tight game situation. Defensively, she brought toughness and timing, stacking up multiple blocked shots and protecting the paint when needed. With her versatility and two-way impact, she looks like a player whose recruitment could really start to gain momentum this spring and summer.
