Seniors Who Could Dominate the Border Region in 2026-2027

The 2026-2027 season might seem like a long way off, but it will be here sooner than you think. The class graduating in June is one of the deepest groups I can remember. The 2026-2027 class doesn't appear to be as loaded, but what it may lack in quantity, it makes up for in quality. There are several players that college coaches should have on their radar. Here is a look at some of next year's seniors who could dominate in the Border Region.    [player_tooltip player_id='1814754' first='Addison' last='Thornton'] led Stillwater to a 21-3 record this season and a spot in the Class C sectional championship game. Thornton is the definition of a pure scorer. She can score at all three levels and make it look easy. Thornton averaged 21 points, four rebounds, and three steals a contest. Thornton runs the show for the Warriors. She is a very good ball-handler with an excellent crossover move that helps her get to the basket, where she finishes strong. Thornton is an outstanding 3-point shooter with an exceptional step-back jumper. She has worked hard to become a good defender and also rebounds well. Thornton may very well be the top player in the region next winter.     Brinly Gandin of Rutland High School in Vermont may be the most explosive scorer I have seen play this season. Gandin has a deep passion for the game that keeps her motor running every time she is on the court. She is a "must-see" for any college coach in New England and beyond. Gandin is known for her scoring ability, fueled by her shooting from beyond the arc. Saying Gandin's range is impressive is an understatement. If she crosses halfcourt, she's open. Being left-handed makes Gandin even more difficult to guard. Her playmaking and court awareness are superb. Gandin is a talented ball-handler and is explosive to the basket, both off of set plays and in transition.     As a junior combo guard for Lake George this winter, Chloe Popa helped the team win in every contest. Popa led the Lakers with 11.4 points per game. She also averaged 4.5 rebounds and six steals a night. Popa is an excellent 3-point shooter, knocking down 35 shots from long range this season. She knows how to beat defenders off the dribble and finish. She is a fierce defender and rebounds extremely well for her size. On defense, Popa has strong instincts for the ball, which translates into multiple steals. I expect Popa's stats to increase next season.     Audry Perry is a top gun for perennial Vermont powerhouse Fair Haven Union. Perry averaged 13 points, 2 steals, and 2 assists per game, leading the Slaters to a 16-5 record and a spot in the state semifinals. Perry is a fundamentally sound player. Her greatest strength is her perimeter shooting. If given space at the top of the key, on the wing, or in the corner, Perry will knock it down. Perry is a very good ball-handler and sees the floor well. She is an excellent defensive player whose long arms cause trouble for dribblers, especially when she is in a help position. Perry will be on everyone's radar next year.     Allie Dickinson averaged 14.2 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game for the Black Bears during the 2025-2026 campaign. Dickinson knocked down 44 3-pointers on the season. She led her team to an 18-4 mark. Dickinson is a polished player at both ends of the floor. She is a very good shooter from behind the arc. The top of the key is her sweet spot. Dickinson handles the ball well and knows how to distribute the rock. She can score inside off of putbacks and get to the rack off the dribble. Dickinson's length makes her a solid defender and shot blocker.     [player_tooltip player_id='1276520' first='Sophia' last='Ryan'] is a dynamic player that everyone will have their eyes on next season. Ryan is a combo guard who can direct a team's offense, find teammates for easy baskets, or score in bunches. Ryan led Spa Catholic to the Class D sectional crown this season for the first time in school history, taking over in the final seconds of the title game. Ryan is a three-level scorer. She is a lethal 3-point shooter with unlimited range. She can stop on a dime for a pull-up jumper or beat defenders to the basket. Ryan is a fabulous ball-hander and passer. She has superior court vision. Ryan eclipsed the 1,000 career point mark this year and should add plenty to it next season.
