We have finished up the basketball season and what a regular season it was. After attending many games and viewing many streams I'd like to cover some of the top break out guards in the Southern Arizona Girls Basketball scene. These will include the 2027, 2028 and 2029 classes.

Had the opportunity to catch Twito a couple times this season. She can move very quick and with purpose. Great awareness on both sides of the ball. Twito is very strong defensively, creating havoc on her opponents. Makes great reads and acts quickly on them. She averaged 5.7 points, 2.1 assists, 2.6 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game. She has a strong handle on the ball and does a great job commanding the offense. Dribbles well through traffic and will score or make a strong pass to the open teammate. Look for Harmony to have a strong upcoming senior season.

Adger is always fun to watch. Her motor is unmatched as she plays at a high level every possession. If you love defensive players then Adger is the one. She picks up the length of the court and is a menace. She forces many turnover with her on ball defense and is a ball hawk away from the ball. She'll read a pass and quickly intercept it and take it the other way for the score. Adger averaged 2.8 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game in a very talented Lancer rotation. Adger hustles and is not only going to be a defensive star on the court but is tremendous on the flag football field as well.

Tiznado had another successful season as a Falcon. She found herself earning First Team 5A Sonoran Region Honors. She shows tremendous leadership and absolutely hustles on the court. Has the skill and strength to get through the defense and score through contact at the basket. Will also catch and shoot from beyond the arc. Tiznado is one of the most unselfish players I saw play this season and truly put her teams best interest first. Tiznado plays the game with great energy and plays every possession with everything she has.

Contreras wrapped up a sophomore season where she earned 6A South First Teams Region honors. She averaged 8 points, 2.9 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game. In the couple viewing I had Contreras played with confidence and was unphased by opponents. She came up big in clutch situations and showed she can be an effective shooter from the perimeter. She is a strong rebounder and doesn't shy away from the physicality of the game. Takes charges. Contreras will have a much bigger role for the Badgers this upcoming season. Expect her numbers to increase dramatically.

Sunukjian was impressive in every game I had a chance to watch her and the Lions play. She is a very physical guard and can read the floor very well on the move. She makes great strong passes and cuts effectively. Moves with purpose and impacts the game at a high level. Sunukjian had a strong season where she earned First Team 3A South Region honors while averaging 7.6 points, 4.8 assists, 5.2 rebounds and 3.4 steals per game. One of her top games of the season came against Winslow where she finished with 18 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists and 5 steals. She helped lead the Lions to a region championship and the 3A State Playoffs.

Woyee will be a name you read about quite a bit for the next few years. She had a solid freshman season that saw her average 8.2 points, 2.0 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 2.7 steals per game. She is very quick and can blow by the defense. Plays very composed and full of confidence. Strong with the ball and operates the offense well. Woyees best performance of the season came against the Coolidge Bears where she went off for 24 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals. The talented two way guard earned First Team 6A South honors as a freshman and will be vital for a successful Marana Tigers program for the next few years.

Chavez had a terrific sophomore season with the Apaches where she averaged 10 points, 1.9 assists, 6.9 rebounds and 3.4 steals per game. She earned Second Team in the 5A Southern Region. She was a huge factor in the success of the Apaches season that saw them end the regular season with a top 10 ranking in state. Chavez has great size and a lengthy wingspan. Rebounds the ball very well and secures a good amount of second chance opportunities. Her best game of the season came against Sunrise Mountain where she finished with 20 points, 16 rebounds and 8 steals. Chavez has the potential and a great coach at Nogales that could see her develop into a great prospect.

We have finished up the basketball season and what a regular season it was. After attending many games and viewing many streams I'd like to cover some of the top break out guards in the Southern Arizona Girls Basketball scene. These will include the 2027, 2028 and 2029 classes.
