She was impressive on the offensive end as a communicator. Her ability to see the floor and direct her teammates to the right spots definitely stood out. Jade also showed tremendous poise in pressure situations down the stretch. Meanwhile, defensively, Jade knew exactly where to be as a help-side defender, disrupting drives to the rim. In addition to her defensive awareness, she was active on the boards. Her motor was second to none this weekend at the NY Metro Showdown. She is everywhere defensively and is the anchor to the Lightning defense. Maddy has active hands getting in the passing lanes and being a pest to passing targets in her area. Horel is also all over the boards both offensively and defensively. She knows how to use her body to her advantage, whether it's to gain box-out positioning or use her length/verticality as a rim protector. She is elite at anticipating offensive actions. Patterson also showed she can guard multiple positions; she moves well laterally and has length to guard bigger offensive matchups. Malaya did a great job denying the ball and causing deflections. Being a rim protector is one of Malaya's strong suits as well. She has the awareness to contest shots with verticality, making sure she doesn't get into foul trouble. In addition to her high-level defensive instincts, she displayed consistent energy throughout the weekend. She was effective as a back-line defender, altering plenty of shots at the rim with her length. Her communication with her teammates on the floor was one of her best traits, which she showcased as well. Additionally, Wagner did not take any plays off while she was on the floor. She was constantly hitting the floor for a loose ball, forcing tie-ups, and changing possessions. On the offensive end of the floor, Caitlin proved to be capable of being a trustworthy decision-maker.
