2026 Prep Ball Stars Midwest Challenge: Illinois Standouts

The Prep Ball Stars Midwest Challenge once again brought together some of the top talent from across Indiana and Illinois, showcasing high-level competition, elite athleticism, and future stars of girls basketball. This event featured some of the best players in the Midwest, and while I was not able to attend in person, I had the opportunity to watch the event online and still came away extremely impressed with the talent level that was on display throughout the showcase.   The Midwest Challenge has become one of the premier events for players looking to prove themselves against elite competition, and this year's Illinois group showed exactly why the state continues to produce some of the toughest and most skilled players in the country. From scoring ability to defensive intensity and overall feel for the game, Illinois talent made a major statement during the event. Instead, she lets the game come to her while still being aggressive when opportunities present themselves. That balance is difficult for young players to master, but James showed maturity in the way she handled pressure situations.   Defensively, she competed hard and stayed active, showing she can contribute on both sides of the floor. Her overall skill set and understanding of the game make her one of the top rising players in Illinois' 2026 class. Watching online, it was easy to see the impact she had every time she was involved in the action.
