Jazz City Jam: 16U Top Performers

The energy was different at the Jazz City Jam as the 16U division took the floor with confidence, toughness, and a hunger to compete. This group came in ready to prove they belong among the next wave of rising prospects, and throughout the weekend they showed why the future is bright.   From the opening tip to the final buzzer, the intensity stayed high. Guards controlled the tempo, wings impacted the game on both ends, and forwards battled inside with physicality and effort. Every matchup felt competitive, and players consistently stepped into big moments with confidence.   What stood out most was the balance between skill and upside. The talent is there, but so is the drive to improve. Players communicated, embraced coaching, competed hard defensively, and made winning plays all weekend long. Whether it was elite ball-handling, shot-making, rebounding, defensive pressure, or hustle plays, the 16U division brought a complete mix of energy and basketball IQ.   Jazz City Jam gave these athletes a chance to make statements and continue building their names — and many took full advantage of the opportunity. Coaches and scouts saw players competing with passion, composure, and the mindset needed to continue rising. Listed as a 5'9 PF/SF at Walker High School, Morris brings a physical presence and continues to develop as a frontcourt player with wing upside.   Offensively, Morris is effective when she plays with confidence around the rim, attacks space, and uses her strength to create scoring chances. She has the ability to finish inside, run the floor, and create second-chance opportunities through effort and positioning.   Defensively, Morris brings value with her rebounding, physicality, and willingness to battle. She can guard in the paint, compete on the glass, and use her length to make opponents work for clean looks.   <h3 class="wp-block-heading">Coach Lathan Take</h3>   “Jaliyah brings toughness and presence. When she's active on the boards and attacking the paint, she becomes a player who can change the game with effort and physicality.”     [player_tooltip player_id='1309053' first='Haleigh' last='Brown'] is a quick, competitive combo guard who brings energy, confidence, and scoring upside to the backcourt. Listed as a 2028 PG/SG for Intensity Determination Energy, Brown has the ability to impact the game as both a ball handler and off-ball scoring option.   Offensively, Brown shows value with her ability to handle the ball, attack gaps, and create opportunities in space. She can play with pace, get downhill, and make defenses react. As she continues to grow her decision-making and consistency, her guard skillset will keep expanding.   Defensively, Brown brings energy and pressure. She has the tools to guard the ball, disrupt rhythm, and compete with active hands. Her quickness allows her to stay involved and create momentum-changing plays.   Coach Lathan Take   “Haleigh brings speed, energy, and confidence to the backcourt. When she's attacking and defending with pressure, she can make things happen fast.     Elizabeth Dennis is a long, versatile forward with the size, toughness, and athletic upside to impact the game in multiple areas. At 6'1, she gives her team a strong frontcourt presence while also showing the mobility to play away from the basket   Offensively, Dennis has the tools to be effective around the rim, finish through contact, and create second-chance opportunities. Her length allows her to catch and finish over defenders, while her mobility gives her value running the floor and filling lanes in transition.   Defensively, Dennis brings size and activity. She can rebound, protect space, contest shots, and make opponents work for clean looks inside. As her confidence and offensive consistency continue to grow, her ceiling as a two-way forward will keep rising.   <h3 class="wp-block-heading">Coach Lathan Take</h3>   “Elizabeth has the length and tools you want in a forward. Listed as a 5'7 SG/PF in the 2029 class for WBBP, Overstreet describes her game as a “Swiss Army knife,” and that shows in the way she impacts multiple areas of the game.   Offensively, Overstreet can make winning plays without needing the game forced to her. She understands how to make the right pass, attack when space is there, and contribute through movement, rebounding, and effort plays. Her versatility allows her to fit into different lineups and play multiple roles depending on the matchup.   Defensively, she stands out with her ability to guard multiple positions, compete physically, and do the dirty work. She brings energy on the glass, plays with effort, and uses her length and athleticism to create defensive stops and extra possessions.   <h3 class="wp-block-heading">oach Lathan Take</h3>   “Aaliyah brings value because she doesn't have to be boxed into one role. She defends, rebounds, makes the right play, and impacts winning with effort.”     [player_tooltip player_id='1845593' first='Kalynn' last='Coston'] is a strong, versatile forward with the size, athletic tools, and toughness to impact the game in multiple areas. At 5'9, she brings good length and physicality, giving her the ability to play inside while still having enough mobility to step out and work from the wing.   Offensively, Coston is effective when she attacks space, runs the floor, and uses her strength to finish around the rim. She has the frame to play through contact and the versatility to create matchup problems depending on who is guarding her.   Defensively, Coston brings value with her ability to rebound, battle inside, and guard multiple spots.
