MI College Tour III Grand Valley: Attacking the Rim

The PGH MI College Tour made its third stop at Grand Valley, where a full weekend of action across both gyms brought together talent from multiple age groups and programs. With games taking place throughout Saturday and Sunday, players had plenty of opportunities to showcase their skill sets in front of college coaches and spectators in attendance.   One theme that consistently stood out over the weekend was players attacking the basket with confidence and toughness. Guards and wings put constant pressure on defenses by getting downhill, finishing through contact, and creating scoring opportunities in the paint. Whether it was explosive drives, crafty finishes around the rim, transition attacks, or strong takes through traffic, these prospects showed an aggressive mentality offensively. The ability to break down defenders and make plays at the rim separated a number of players throughout the weekend and made for plenty of standout performances.    Davinee, a guard for Always 100 P32 Grind, stood out at the MI College Tour III Grand Valley with her ability to put pressure on the defense off the dribble. She used a smooth in-and-out move to create separation and attack the basket, finishing effectively once she got into the paint. One of her better finishes came on a crafty inside-hand layup around a defender at the rim. Davinee also showed she can stretch the floor, knocking down shots from beyond the arc and making defenders respect her scoring ability at all three levels.     Aubri, a guard for [program_tooltip program_id='952340' first='The' last='House'], made an impact at the MI College Tour III Grand Valley with her ability to break down defenders and create offense. She used a smooth hesitation move to get past defenders and consistently put pressure on the paint. Once defenses collapsed, Aubri did a great job reading the floor and finding open teammates with smart passes. She was effective attacking the rim and creating opportunities both for herself and others. Defensively, her active hands stood out as she came up with multiple steals and disrupted opposing ball handlers throughout the day.     Melanie, a guard for Dream Loudly, stood out at the MI College Tour III Grand Valley with her ability to handle the ball and attack the paint. She used a sharp crossover to create space and beat defenders off the dribble, consistently putting pressure on the defense. Melanie played aggressively getting downhill and did a strong job converting around the rim once she got into the lane. Her ability to break defenders down and finish made her a difficult matchup throughout the day.     Anna, a guard for [program_tooltip program_id='714462' first='Michigan' last='Premier'], showcased her ability to attack the basket at the MI College Tour III Grand Valley. She created separation with her handle, including a slick move that left a defender behind before finishing at the rim. Melanie also used a tight, low crossover to break down defenders and get into the paint consistently. On the defensive end, she stayed active with her hands, coming up with steals and turning a few of them into coast-to-coast scoring opportunities. She also proved she can absorb contact and still finish, converting multiple and-one plays in traffic throughout the day.     Ella, a guard for Mystics, continues to impress while competing up a division at the MI College Tour III Grand Valley. She used her quick first step to get by defenders and consistently attack the paint. Ella also showed confidence from the perimeter, knocking down shots from beyond the arc, while adding an and-one finish through contact. Even from the guard position, she battled hard on the glass and came away with rebounds in traffic. Her ability to change speeds with the ball made her difficult to contain off the dribble, and she also brought strong defensive energy throughout the day.
