Standouts From the Final Day of Battle in the Badger State

Today, I watched the end of the Battle in the Badger State and saw some players who stood out in Appleton. I thought I learned some new things about a handful of players and how some responded to adversity. Let's look at some players who had solid showings in the final weekend before the May Live Period, where players from Wisconsin will head to multiple locations around the country.    The Winneconne wing is a physical and skilled player who didn't have her best day offensively today. However, I thought she stayed the course throughout a game where we heard few whistles and played through contact without ever complaining. She kept getting to her shots and never got out of who she is as a player, and even though she didn't score the final go-ahead basket, her aggression and ability to get to the basket created that final basket and foul.     Tagliapietra has grown in numerous ways in her first three seasons at the high school level. She has become a dynamic lead guard who can use her speed to make plays on both ends of the floor and excel in transition. She is also an excellent passer and can get her teammates open looks. However, she's developed into an impressive leader who has the attention of all her teammates when she's on the floor, which speaks volumes about the respect she has from the people around her.     Crowe may be among the most stoic players in Wisconsin, and doesn't let anything get to her, or at least let anyone else think something is getting to her. The SMC guard/wing played through plenty of contact and used her physicality to play through it. She is also not someone who will let calls/no calls get her out of her rhythm, as she showed today. She is a player who has grown on me since I first saw her play in her sophomore season.     I thought Morgan had a solid afternoon with her [program_tooltip program_id='713344' first='Chapman' last='Basketball Academy'] group. She shot the ball well and helped her team seperate in the first portion of the game today. However, as I talked about a few weeks ago, she also showed some of the physicality and willingness to scrap for extra possessions and help her team close out possessions by rebounding. I like where her game has been going over the past year, and she should end up with a competitive program at the next level.
