Updated 2027 Rankings New York | Under the Radar Gems

By Josh Ebrahim   New York's Class of 2027 has arrived and contains impressive depth and emerging talent as players across the state prepare for a competitive summer. New York's top prospects will have the opportunity to make a case for movement within the next rankings cycle. Let's take a look at some of the prospects who are flying under the radar.    Mayo is a leader and high-IQ player who does a little bit of everything. She shoots it with good mechanics, can sink the baseline jumper, and has the physicality and toughness to compete on the glass, crashing hard and looking for putbacks. She can put it on the floor and create for herself, finishes around the rim with nice touch and footwork, and runs the floor looking to get involved in transition. Makes all the passes, plays the right way, and impacts every phase of the game.     Walters is a mobile physical forward who is one to watch. She runs the floor hard, crashes the boards with purpose, and has an elite touch and finishing ability around the basket that makes her a constant threat for putbacks. She can step out and hit the mid-range when needed, and can protect the rim and impose her will. Walters will have a bigger role heading into her senior season with two starters graduating, look for her to take advantage of that opportunity.     DeMarco is a gamer, plain and simple, and a dual-sport athlete committed to Monmouth for soccer, but she's a very good hooper in her own right. It shows in her athleticism and competitive makeup. On the basketball floor, she's a bucket getter, plain and simple. She has range from the perimeter, loves the mid-range jumper, and has the quickness and explosiveness to slash to the basket and finish. Super athletic, runs the floor hard, and loves to attack. Her feel for the game is elite, she has good vision, makes teammates better, and always seems to make the right play at the right moment.     Hunt is an athletic wing with length and a feel for scoring. She has solid mechanics as a shooter, can put it on the floor and get to the basket with handle surprising for her size, and uses her athleticism and mobility to impact the game on both ends. Blocks shots, rebounds, and brings the kind of versatility that creates matchup problems. Hunt is a prospect to keep an eye on, with real upside, who is still scratching the surface of what she can do.     Jalpay has elite athleticism with the skill set to match. Versatile prospect that can create for herself off the dribble, gets to the basket with ease, and can put up numbers in a hurry when she gets going. A good shooter who keeps defenses honest, and at her best when she's running the floor, facilitating, and making the right play in transition before defenses can get organized. Jalpay is dangerous when she jumpstarts the break, she can pull up in transition or make you pay if you overcommit by dishing it off to a teammate.
