2027 Rankings Update | 2nd Wave of Names You Need To Know

By Josh Ebrahim   6-1-26   New York's Class of 2027 has arrived and contains impressive depth and emerging talent as players across the state prepare for a competitive summer. New York's top prospects will have the opportunity to make a case for movement within the next rankings cycle.   This class features a dynamic pool of talent, from versatile guards who push the pace and facilitate the offense to athletic wings and paint players who impact the game on both ends. These months ahead should provide valuable insight into which players are ready to emerge as the next faces of New York's 2027 class.    Hulsman is a mismatch, plain and simple. Works well out of the pick-and-roll where she's a weapon rolling to the basket. Sets hard screens from the top of the key, can play with back to the basket or face up, has elite footwork and physicality, and finishes efficiently when the ball finds her, usually with her hook. Lob it up, and she'll go get it no problem. Run the floors looking for homerun dimes. Cleans up on the glass. In the paint, she protects the rim with authority, can alter shots, change angles, and make plays without hesitation.     Herrington is a versatile, high-IQ player who thrives on or off the ball. She has good size and physicality, a quick release on her shot, and she finds her spot. Has the ability to get downhill and create her own shot when needed, dicing her way to the basket. Her decision-making is elite. Herrington always makes the right play at the right time, never forces things, and competes with tenacity on every possession. She's the kind of player who makes her team better just by being on the floor.     Matias is an athletic wing who makes her presence felt on both ends. She plays inside and out, uses the high post to attack, and has the physicality to finish through contact with touch. She can slash to the basket or step out and hit from the mid-range. Reliable on the glass and very good defensively, she brings the kind of two-way energy that holds a team together when shots aren't falling.     Lanni is a shooter with fluid mechanics and a quick release. She has range and isn't afraid to step into her shot, making tough shots look easy. Runs the floor hard in transition. What stands out beyond the skill is the confidence. She is versatile and can guard multiple positions. Defensively, she is a good 1v1 defender, she has great lateral footwork, active hands, good instincts, and plays with intensity trying to contest shots.     Atkins is a silky smooth guard with elite handle and can get to any spot she wants on the floor. Atkins attacks with her mid-range pull-up, will push pace and attack in transition, take it coast-to-coast, or hit the rim runner in stride. She uses her shifty handle to get defenders off-balance and create mismatches. Her shooting range needs to be developed with more reps, she'll also need to add strength to guard bigger guards at the D1 level. Defensively, Atkins jumps to the ball, creates deflections, and has good technique on closeouts.
