The 2027 class is creeping up on their last season of high school basketball. Some players, even though there is limited time left in their prep careers, have the skills to move up the Prep Girls Hoops Rankings. Here are five 2027 shooting guards either outside the top 100 or unranked to keep an eye on.

Katie Bechtel could have a big senior season.

Bechtel, in her junior season, displayed a dynamic offensive game with her 3-point jumper, highlighting her skillset. She is a lefty jumpshooter with a lightning-quick jumper. That is one of her main strengths regarding her perimeter shot because she can shoot it even with defenders closing in on her quickly. Her ability to set her feet on a dime before getting the ball is a big part of her shot being so speedy.

Bechtel is also more than comfortable creating off the dribble. She often uses her 3-point shot to get into the paint, either with a quick hesitation or a pump fake. From there, she can drive all the way to the bucket for a layup or pull up for a mid-range jumper.

Jayla Jones' strengths as a player come on the defensive end of the court.

Jones is a constant disruptor on the perimeter as a defender. She is extremely good at defending on the ball, but she's truly at her best defending off of it. From there, she does a great job at reading the eyes of whoever has the ball. If she sees they are about to make an errant pass, she can hop over to the passing lane and get a steal or deflection with her speed and length. In a game last season against Cordova High School, she had four steals.

Jones can also knock down 3-pointers and has a little twitch to her game on the dribble. The same start-to-stop speed she has that makes her a steal threat allows her to get past opposing players when driving to the bucket on offense.

Tristyn Jones at the SG position is a high-level perimeter shooter.

Jones last season had many impressive games in shooting from distance. She does a great job at staying ready in offensive sets and capitalizing on the times she becomes open. In games last year, she would receive a pass, pass it back out, slightly relocate to open space, and then knock down a 3-pointer. Slight things like this about her game bring her to another level as a shooter.

In a game against Knoxville Catholic High School last season, she made four 3-pointers.

Ashlyn Selby at the SG position finds a way to impact games in a multitude of ways.

Selby, at nearly 6'0", has great straight-line speed. This allows her to have good close-outs and rotations on the defensive end. Pairing this with her high basketball IQ helps her get steals and blocks in games.

Offensively, Selby can dribble if needed and is a great perimeter shooter. Selby on the dribble does well at locating open teammates. She is also an elite-level rebounder at the SG position.

Highlighting her vast skillset was a game against Stone Memorial High School last season. In the contest, she had eight points, 10 rebounds, five assists, four steals, and one block.

Taylie Proffitt has a skillset that makes it near impossible to keep her off the court: she makes threes and plays good perimeter defense.

Regarding Proffitt's perimeter shooting, she is a great off-the-ball mover. She can score 3-pointers off the catch or by passing and relocating. She is also able to initiate offensive sets. In these situations, she can score 3-pointers off the dribble and does well at moving around screens from the perimeter, which can sometimes open up windows for shots beyond the arc. In a game against Pineville High School last season, she scored five 3-pointers. One of the 3-pointers came from her using a screen off the dribble.

On defense, Proffitt is laser-focused. She reads the movement of opposing players well, which can lead to high steal totals. In a game against Claiborne High School last season, she had seven steals.
