My whole goal when I dropped my first article on my own was not only to identify next-level players but to uplift those who might not be at that level, but were showing "on the court" progression, and that's just who I am. It doesn't matter what team you're on or what that final score looks like. I teased that I had a crystal ball to see into the future, which I also used to drop #D1Locks on players as young as the 3rd grade, but that's not the youngest, when my daughter slapped the nurse at 2 days old, her quick hands told me a lot, and after a dozen years in the W, I guess I was right.

I'm just thinking about some of the rising freshmen who stood out at the June Jamboree, who are showing promise and potential, and I've written about [player_tooltip player_id='1871944' first='Emma' last='Simmons'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1873709' first='Princess' last='Estrada'], who stood out on opening day; there may have been others, but without non-erroneous rosters which include graduatings class, my hands are tied as the crystal ball only sees so much yet here are some others

Degrate has me wondering if she's related to players with the same surname who have left their mark in Texas basketball, and even if she isn't THE GREAT is something she could become. She stands at "the magic number" and is "long and athletic," which is the base; yet, seeing her show signs of dominating in the paint, on both ends, got me going. She rebounded strongly, and her defense was solid, but watching her "hands and footwork" as well as finishing with either hand after contact told me a lot

Eckman is a "long and athletic" guard, which also falls into the base category, yet when you factor she's in, another group, #sizedontmatter, always remember when you can play, it doesn't. She scored or dished off the dribble, but her court vision in the set as well as in transition also looked good. She applied solid "on the ball" pressure and played the passing lane

Stafford is also, you guessed it, "long and athletic" but here's the kicker, she can play multiple positions, and seeing her rebound and go coast to coast to score was nice, so was her glimpses of explosiveness off the dribble in the set. Her "on the ball" pressure looked good, and she added UPS to the equation as her timing got her some blocks as well as deflections

Walker is a heady guard who doesn't let pressure bother her while handling the ball as well as seeing the floor, but on the flip side, she does a good job of applying heat to create havoc, which led to turnovers. Her deceptive first step looked good as it got the defender off balance for her to attack and score, and she showed the pull-up as well
