New York 2029 Ranked Players from Section 2

The most recent Prep Girls Hoops Rankings for New York 2029 prospects came out this week, and several rising Section 2 freshmen are in the mix. Here is a look at where your favorite 2029 players from the section stack up against the state's best after a comprehensive analysis by our staff.    [player_tooltip player_id='1279848' first='Amaya' last='Harris'] is an electric combo guard from Troy High. Harris is ranked No. 15 in New York in the Class of 2029 and the highest-ranked from Section 2. Given her size, maturity, and skill set, it is hard to grasp that Harris is only a freshman. Harris is a physically strong player who can take contact and still finish. She is an elite ball-handler with a loaded repertoire of moves to shake free of defenders. Harris has a fantastic spin move in the lane. Harris has a size advantage over other point guards, which allows her to overpower defenders and score easily inside. She has superior court vision that makes her an outstanding passer. Harris can score effortlessly at all three levels with her smooth shooting touch.     [player_tooltip player_id='1814790' first='Charlotte' last='Baroody'] is just a talented overall athlete. Not only does she excel on the basketball hardwood, but she is also a skilled flag football player. Baroody is currently ranked No. 22 among our 2029 New York prospects. She averaged six points per contest with a season high of 13 for Shen this winter. Baroody is an outstanding defender, registering multiple steals per night with her keen anticipation. She is also a good shot blocker. Baroody can knock down the 3-point shot. She runs the floor well and is a strong finisher in transition. Her numbers and her ranking should shoot up in the future.     [player_tooltip player_id='1378947' first='Aaliyah' last='Douglas'] is the highest-ranked of our 2029 Watch List players from Section 2. Douglas is just beginning to grow into her long, lanky 6-foot frame. And as she matures and develops, she will be unstoppable. The ceiling is very high for Douglas. Douglas is an elite shot blocker with impeccable timing. Her footwork defensively is very good. She is a tireless rebounder at both ends of the floor. Many of her points come from putbacks from offensive rebounds. When Douglas receives the ball near the rim, she is a consistent finisher.     [player_tooltip player_id='1871454' first='Holly' last='Hirsch'] is on our Class of 2029 watch list, but is sure to move up the list next season. Hirsch is a multi-sport athlete with tremendous athletic ability. She is a NYSSWA Class A honorable mention selection. Hirsch is devoid of flaws in her game. She can do it all. Hirsch is an elite outside shooter with deep range. She can shoot equally as well off the catch of the dribble. Hirsch has a solid handle, excellent court vision, and always seems to find the open player. She runs the floor well and is a strong finisher on the break.     [player_tooltip player_id='1871470' first='Molly' last='Shaver'] of Berne-Knox-Westerlo just completed her freshman campaign, but is experienced beyond her years. Shaver is in her third season on the varsity for the Bulldogs. Shaver is considered a rising star, but she may have already arrived, as she is currently on our 2029 Watch List. She is an outstanding 3-point shooter who can score from anywhere on the floor. Shaver can drive to the basket or pull up and hit shorter jumpers. She plays under control and does a solid job of controlling the pace. Shaver will be a player to keep a close eye on as she progresses over the next three seasons.     [player_tooltip player_id='1871455' first='Sandra' last='Cirilla'] is an impressive young player for Schalmont. Cirilla is a three-level scorer who knows how to find ways to put the rock in the hoop. She is super at creating her own shot opportunities, always playing downhill and looking to get to the rim. Cirilla is an outstanding ballhandler. She is a very good shooter from behind the arc from every spot on the floor. Her range is unlimited, often connecting on shots from a few feet behind the 3-point. Perhaps her greatest strength is the way she spits defenders and attacks the basket off the bounce. The sky is the limit for this explosive natural scorer.
