Tomorrow, June will be upon us, which means it's almost time for the quarterly Summer rankings update. Now that 2026 is headed out, I will begin my focus on the Class of 2027. Over the next couple of days, the updated rankings and watch list will appear online, but in the meantime, I wanted to tip you off to some new names who will be joining the lists. This article covers five ladies labeled as small forwards who will be new to the list when it's released later this week.

Moriah spent her first two seasons of high school at Covenant Christian in Indianapolis, but she moved over to Plainfield as a Junior. She seemed to fit it pretty seamlessly, as she is a hard worker and added a little size and some rebounding/interior defense to an otherwise guard-oriented squad. In addition to her 6.6 points and 4.3 rebounds per game, Moriah was respectable from the 3-point line, shooting 35% (29-82), plus she was a solid 71% from the charity stripe. She is a nice all-around athlete who can play in the mid-post as well as around the perimeter.

The home of "Larry Legend", Mr. Larry Bird, Springs Valley has had a nice run of talent lately in girls' basketball, and it has been spread across the board, from point guards to wings, and forwards to posts. Gracie is a really nice wing athlete for the Lady Blackhawks, and she was a double-digit scorer this year. She posted 13.5 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 2.4 steals per game, plus she was a solid 30% from deep (41-135) and 77% from the free throw line. Next year, she'll be without two key graduates, so I'll be curious to see if she's able to take it up to another level.

Briley has put together an impressive Spring thus far, and while she plays an important role for her high school team along several other scorers, she has had some big games recently for her [program_tooltip program_id='1002297' first='IGB' last=''] grassroots team. What's impressed me most is just her poise on the wing. She doesn't panic when pressured, and she doesn't rush into any shots. She seems to have a good understanding of shot selection, but she also knows when to ball-fake and put it on the floor to attack. She has done a nice job using her length and athleticism as well to defend the perimeter and go rebound.

Eden grew up in the prestigious Norwell program, but she moved just a few miles away to county rival Bluffton for her Junior season and played quality minutes for the Tigers. As you would expect, based on her background, she is a disciplined, tough-nosed, hard-working, and somewhat physical athlete who plays with nice versatility. She has an athletic to strong frame, and she can get inside the paint to defend/rebound. She has a nice face-up game in the mid-post as well, but she is also comfortable around the perimeter. Defensively, she also works at it.

Every year, DistinXion seems to find several really nice small school kids who turn into outstanding small college prospects. Molly is a good case of that, and she stood out a couple of the times I've seen them this Spring. She's another wing with an athletic frame, some length, and she plays with a really nice motor. She is more of a driver than a perimeter shooter, but she likes to get baseline and use angles to score the ball. She is willing to be physical and almost looks like she has past experience as an interior player. She averaged 15.4 points and 5.8 rebounds this year.

Emma is another highly productive small school kid who has put together a nice career in Northern Indiana and is flying a bit under the radar. She will likely go over 1000 points sometime around midseason of her Senior year, but she will also pass 500 rebounds early next year at just 5-7, and she'll eclipse 200 career steals as well. She has some length, she has gotten noticeably stronger each year, and she plays with a nice motor. She averaged 13.7 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 3.1 steals per game as a Junior, plus she shot 35% from deep (23-66), and she was 74% from the line.
