High school basketball is back, and I couldn't be more excited. I plan to provide Prep Girls Hoops coverage in every region of Michigan this June. It's like following a treasure map, and I know there will be dozens of hidden gems to discover along the way. The first stop on my coverage journey brought me to Mount Pleasant for Central Michigan University Team Camp. CMU has a rich history of hosting high school girls' team camps. Head Coach Kristin Haynie and the CMU WBB brought it back this summer, and the event was a major success. Teams from all across Michigan came out, and I had the opportunity to see a fantastic variety of prospects and teams throughout the day. Prospects fit for every level of college basketball appeared, and one of the coolest features of camp was that every team had an opportunity to play a game on CMU's main court in the arena. To maximize my coverage and ability to see as many teams as possible, I held down the fort in the SAC. Four adjacent courts are a scout's dream, and I had a fantastic time watching the games.

Many prospects stood out and demonstrated qualities in their game that translate to the next level. Here are five players who are on the Prep Girls Hoops radar now after attending CMU Team Camp:

Alaina provided an imposing interior scoring threat for Novi at CMU Team Camp. She's long, physical, and maintains her balance, finishing with strength and tough in contested situations. Alaina made some highlight plays that had me thinking to myself, who's that? She made a smart basket cut, caught the entry pass with good hands, then powered up off two feet, unfazed by the contact, finishing the strong and-one layup. Alaina completed the three point play at the line. One wasn't enough, so Alaina scored another and-one layup through contact from a very tough angle at the rim, then knocked down the free throw once again. She battled to maintain position on defense, deflecting passes into the post and got the scoring angle with a spin after securing an offensive rebound for a high percentage bucket.

Madeline has length, handles the ball effectively with both hands, changes gears to create space off the dribble, disrupts the passing lanes on defense, facilitates, and gives Novi a spark with her perimeter range. She drained an open corner three, knocked down another jumper from the short corner, and dished out an assist on a three after swiping the ball away. Madeline was an impact player at CMU Team Camp for the Wildcats, and she'll be a versatile prospect in the backcourt to keep a close eye on.

Lydia impacted the game for Mason as a facilitator and three-point threat. She drained a smooth triple from the corner and added a deep wing three off the bounce when the defense decided to give her too much space. Lydia handled the ball with poise, pushed the tempo, and made a timely dump-off pass to a cutter in stride on a basket cut. She beat backcourt pressure with her strong skip passes and fired a long, lead pass assist up the court to an open teammate. Lydia is currently considering majors in business and early childhood development.

Ny'Lah caught my attention early in the day with her aggressive defense, quickness, and athleticism. Ny'Lah was persistent on the offensive glass. She came sprinting in like she was fired out of a cannon to secure multiple offensive rebounds and forced the defense to put her on the line. Ny'Lah penetrated gaps with explosiveness off the dribble, switched hands to evade defenders in the lane, and scored a full-speed finish at the rim off two feet. She's a dual-sport athlete who competes in track and basketball.

When you go up against elite athleticism, don't yield an inch, and elevate your play to make a difference for your team under adversity, that leaves a lasting impression. Alice was that player Saturday morning for Clarkston at CMU Team Camp. She buried an open corner three and was extremely active on the defensive end, creating multiple steals. Alice utilized the no-look pass on the perimeter, handled the ball comfortably under duress with both hands, and her quick passes kept the offense moving. She finished at the rim off two feet and provided a highlight moment during the game. Alice drove into a defender's chest with a strong shoulder to cause a foul, floated a shot from the elbow that bounced high off the rim, then came straight down through the net for the and-one bucket.
