AAU Closing Moments: Players You Need To Follow Into High School

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">As AAU season wraps up, these are some of the players I'll be following into the high school season. Whether it was raising their stock, expanding their skill set, or adjusting to a new role or team, each of them made the most of the summer. Offer lists don't always tell the full story, but I expect what they showed over the last few months to carry over into the high school season.</h3>    Calhoun provided valuable minutes for a Loyola program that reached the 4A State Championship last season. This summer, she was in full go mode, playing heavy minutes while serving as a focal point for her AAU team. A majority of her game is predicated on her strength and the force she plays with, but over the past couple of months she's shown flashes of being able to slow the game down and allow her skill and footwork to create easier angles to score. As she gets older, placing more of an emphasis on protecting herself will be key, especially with Loyola retooling and likely relying on her at a much higher usage rate.     Butler always has some of the top guards in their program, and from the film I've watched.. Bagsby might find herself on that list. She is a deep-ball threat, with some length that allows her to play a bit bigger than her listed height. She will definitely be a key starter and focal point on this program, and as she's beginning to play next to other stronger guards, her skill set will likely fill out on both ends of the floor.     The role Flores played for her high school program was much different than the one she embraced over these past couple of months, yet she still found ways to make a major impact whenever her number was called. Throughout the summer, she played off the ball as a spot up shooter, slasher, and disruptive defender. Playing on a program with three ESPN-ranked prospects forces you to pick your spots and be comfortable taking a step back, and that's exactly what college coaches want to see from complementary pieces who know how to help winning programs. Heading into her final high school season, Aaliyah will step back into the role of focal point for a program looking to remain competitive.     Due to the location of her HS, a lot of the attention that Lee deserves doesn't necessarily present itself, but if you've been able to catch any games or moments of her over the summer, then you can tell this kid has a different motor than most, and when she's got it going, only good things happen. She's an aggressor, and that aggression isn't just evident from a scoring standpoint... she is always heads up, ready to make a play for a teammate, but doesn't force the situation. She has speed and body control, and her size works to her advantage. If you think you're going to bully her, find a new plan. The kid has a ton of heart, and you can see it in every possession that she's in.     Sedillo should be a huge piece for the Benet program during her junior season, especially with a bulk of the team's talent graduating this past year. She's simply a hooper, and a majority of her game is built on what she can do offensively. She can get things going from behind the arc all the way to the rim, whether it's off the catch or off the dribble, but she's at her best when she's knocking down shots from three. With a bigger offensive workload expected this winter, there's a strong chance her production takes another step forward. As the defensive side of her game continues to develop and she's able to facilitate at a higher level, she'll continue to stand out as solid guards in her class.     There's a lot of hype around Eshoo, and rightfully so. Despite her age, she's consistently shown the ability to compete against older players and hold her own individually. Her skill set is still being sharpened, and that will come with time and maturity, but heading into a winning program like Loyola, she may find herself in a much different role than she's used to. Which will ultimately help grow and expand her basketball IQ, ability to play without the ball, and overall understanding of how to play championship level basketball.
