Five Make Battle In The Sunflower 17U Second Team

The Battle in the Sunflower 17U division featured numerous younger players mixed in with 2027s seeing the twilight of their summer ball seasons ahead of them. Energy was high across the board and there were many talented players I can see playing at the next level. After sharing my selections to the all-event <a href="https://prepgirlshoops.com/2026/07/battle-in-the-sunflower-17u-first-team/">first team</a> now I present the five 17U second team selections. A fast, athletic and diversely talent prospect and only going to be a freshman. The road she will travel in the years ahead will be a fun one. Among the things that stood out is how well she uses her body to shield the shot she taking on the finish. Opponents had a difficult time matching up with her positional size and transition ability. Most of what is not mastered will come with experience.     Jensen outsized everyone at the event and she took full advantage of it. Showing off her quick feet to create short drives and free throw line jumpers she also passed well to shooters spotting up, to set up kick-move-catch-finish plays and hit cutters. Jensen consistently showed finishing ability with either hand as well. Defensively, she used her footwork to challenge plays. Her transition speed cut down opportunities for defenders to try to out-run her also.     Robinson checks several boxes I look for: boxes out, consistently score the mid-range jumper, athleticism on finishes perimeter range and slashing ability with the ball across the lane. She uses her lengthy frame to challenge shots and create them over and around defenders.     As noted in my Day 1 post Sparks, from the drop of the flag was basically involved in everything for Texas Black Gold. The high motor forward showed solid shot blocking/challenging ability, a consistent ability to play weakside defense well and make herself a scoring threat out of the offense and in transition. She extended well showing athleticism scoring around the hoop, controlled the ball clearing rebounds and showed a good handle when needed.     Waite was very good quickly going from offense to defense and back. She could be involved in a play on the offensive end, including being the shot taker, then hustle back while keeping track of the ball to make a play on the other other. She showed controlled quickness, range on her three point shot and solid speed.
