Florida Gems Who Caught My Eye in Louisville

Not every impressive performance comes from a nationally recognized prospect. Throughout the weekend at Run 4 The Roses in Louisville, I came across several Florida players who may not receive the same attention as some of the state's top-ranked recruits but consistently made winning plays whenever I watched them. Many are younger prospects still developing, while others simply deserve more exposure for the way they impact the game. Here are a handful of Florida gems who caught my eye on Friday and are worth following as they continue their basketball journeys:    Faith is a combo guard whose development will be worth following closely. She showed the ability to score from all three levels with a smooth shooting stroke and enough wiggle off the dribble to create space for herself. One of her better plays came when she navigated a ball screen under control and pulled up for a long two while on the move. Faith also stood out with her communication and competitiveness by bringing energy and leadership throughout the game. Her skill set, feel for the game, and scoring versatility make her an intriguing young prospect to keep an eye on.     Caidyn was one of the biggest reasons her team was able to pull away in the game I watched. She consistently made winning plays, and good things seemed to happen whenever she was near the ball. She knocked down big shots throughout the game, shot efficiently from beyond the arc, and showed the ability to run the offense while keeping her teammates involved. Beyond the stat sheet, Caidyn stood out as a competitor, leader, and vocal communicator who helped set the tone on both ends of the floor. Her poise, decision-making, and timely shot-making made for an impressive all-around performance in Louisville.     Lyric plays with an attacking mentality and is at her best when she gets downhill or out in transition where her speed becomes a major weapon. She consistently put pressure on the defense by finishing through contact for multiple and-one opportunities, including a tough left-handed finish and a crafty scoop finish at the rim. She also showed the ability to finish with either hand which made her difficult to defend once she got into the next layer of defenders. Beyond her scoring, Lyric attacked the offensive glass for extra possessions, used her body well to create space around the basket, and competed on the defensive end throughout the game. She's an athlete to monitor as her game continues to progress.     Santana has the size, length, and frame that immediately stand out and give her intriguing long-term upside. As I walked up to the court, she recorded back-to-back blocks and quickly showcased the type of rim protection her reach and timing can provide. She added another block later by contesting a deep mid-range attempt by using her length and elevation to send the shot away. Offensively, she showed soft touch with a short-corner jumper, knocked down a couple 10-to-15-footers, and stayed active on the glass for an offensive putback. Her combination of size, reach, athleticism, and developing face-up game gives her the physical tools that project well to the next level.     Delissa was one of the most impressive players I watched all weekend and looked like a prospect who has clearly put in the work since the last time I saw her. She knocked down multiple three-pointers from deep with confidence, and her shooting mechanics look even cleaner and more consistent than I remembered. She also showcased impressive body control with a hangtime finish at the rim, used effective ball fakes to keep defenders off balance, and consistently created advantages with her quickness and handles. Defensively, she competed on every possession, anticipated plays well, and made winning plays without forcing the action. Just as encouraging as her production was the noticeable improvement in her overall game. It's evident she has spent time tightening up any weaknesses, and that continued development makes her a very intriguing prospect moving forward.     Nevaeh impacted the game on both ends with her quickness, activity level, and ability to make plays with the ball in and out of her hands. She knocked down a smooth mid-range jumper with excellent shooting form and continued to show confidence from that area throughout the game. Offensively, she consistently beat defenders off the dribble, penetrated the paint, and made the right read by kicking the ball out to open teammates. She also finished well at the rim when opportunities presented themselves. Defensively, her quickness allowed her to fly around the court, battle for rebounds, and even block a three-point attempt by closing out with great timing and effort. Her motor, two-way impact, and developing offensive game made for another strong showing as we near the end of her travel ball career.     Alyssa is a promising 2030 prospect who already displays a well-rounded skill set. The lefty has a smooth shooting stroke with good rotation and confidently shot the 3-ball. She also showed the ability to finish at the rim with either hand which adds another layer to her scoring ability. With solid handles and good court vision, Alyssa played with poise and made sound decisions with the ball in her hands. Defensively, she was active and competed with a steal and a blocked shot in the minutes I watched. As she continues to develop physically and gain experience, she has the tools to become a prospect to watch in the 2030 class.
