LBI Summer Showcase: Youth Movement

The seventh month of the calendar year is one where the grassroots season reaches its apex – including two high-profile live periods.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>In many ways, the LBI Summer Showcase can be seen as a tune-up for those upcoming live periods. It hosted a number of teams from both North and South Carolina and took place the Sunday of Fourth of July weekend from the Kemba Walker Sports Academy – the former Carolina Courts.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We at Prep Girls Hoops also were on hand in Concord for the day's festivities. Faison is no exception as she has received offers from North Carolina A&amp;T, Appalachian State and Elon. Her freshman season with 8A Mallard Creek would result in her team claiming last season's state championship. Faison earned significant playing time last season with the Mavericks as she saw court time in 26 contests last season. Even though she is listed on Mallard Creek's roster as a small forward. Faison can also thrive in the backcourt as a combo guard. She managed to greatly help her [program_tooltip program_id='1855543' first='Carolina' last='Hornets'] 16U team as it put together a dominant performance against Carolina All In 16U in the early portions of Sunday's LBI Summer Showcase. To say that the 2025-26 season was a rollercoaster ride for North Lincoln was an understatement, but it still resulted in a 5A state championship. Burch previously played her middle school ball at North Lincoln MS and her travel career has also included a stint with Lake Norman Lightning. Recently, she landed an offer from Elon and has also secured those in the past from UNC-Wilmington, Winthrop and Appalachian State. We at Prep Girls Hoops recognized Lacy as a top small forward among the 2029 class and she more than displayed that throughout Sunday's play. That also applies to when one plays up in class during grassroots ball. Both of those distinctions apply to Craig as she is a 2030 who already has secured offers from UNC-Wilmington, Florida, North Carolina A&amp;T, Winthrop and App State. Last season, the Cougars of 6A Alexander Central finished its 2025-26 campaign with a 27-4 record and one can expect that the Cougars' winning ways will continue as Craig will be sporting Alexander Central navy blue and Vegas gold.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
