In this piece we discuss returning prospects that led their Varsity programs last Winter in multiple positive statistical categories.

Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!

Maryn Franken has been the leader for her Sioux Center program for three seasons at this point. She has been a monumental part of the Warriors success over her time on the Varsity floor and we are going to see even more of that this Winter as she tries to finish things on a high note. Franken is that 6'0 mismatch that no one wants to deal with. She is so versatile on both sides of the ball that it can be extremely difficult to contain her throughout the entire duration of a ball-game. If you put someone smaller on her, she goes over them in the Post. If you put someone bigger on her, she can spread the floor. If you have her defend someone bigger, she can wall up and create consistent stops. She is quick enough to stick with someone smaller when those switching situations occur or she can work through screens at a high rate. Franken has a chance to be really productive at the next level. She has all the intangibles you want from a coaching perspective. Now it's all about how efficient she can continue to become as she gets older throughout her career.

15 PPG, 6 RPG, 3 APG is the stat line that Sydney Zupke averaged last season as a Sophomore at the Varsity level. As you might have imagined, these three numbers led Zupke's team in each positive statistical categories, proving that Zupke is their go-to on both sides of the floor whenever it's plausible. She is a PG, that demonstrates that she can show up in every facet of the game for her team. She can score at each offensive level, she can defend, she can rebound, she can assist whenever the defense decides to help off onto her, and she can lead. She usually does that by example but sometimes she has shown that she can lead with her voice too. It just depends on the given situation.

It is NOT a forgone conclusion that Addyson Greenwald will lead the Tripoli High School this Winter in multiple categories but she was extremely close last Winter as a Freshman at the CG position. For things to line up that way this time around, it's not a crazy thought. Greenwald was all over the floor last year, moving from spot to spot. She played the 1, 2, and even 3 when the situation would call for it. She was the second leading scorer on her team in PPG and first in APG. Taking that into account and the fact that the players before her in the lead from last season are now gone due to graduation and it seems like it lines up perfectly for Greenwald. She does have other responsible players returning with her so she won't be alone but she should lead the pack at the end of the day when everything is said and done.

Elle Lindsay wil have the chance to be her team's leader in PPG, RPG, and APG this Winter as a Senior. Last Winer Lindsay led the team in RPG and APG but came up just short in PPG. She has one other older player above her lead the team in that caterogy but this season will be different. Lindsay should have the rock in her possession every play coming down the floor. If not, she should be touching the ball in some sort of way each possession. That's how vital her play is to this Central Springs program. If Lindsay can make the most of these opportunities, she will lead the group in each statistic while ideally helping her team to an overall better record than what they posted a year ago.

When you think of Lamoni Girls High School Basketball, you think of Haelyn Olson. Olson, their CG Captain from season past, is the leader that this group looks to both for buckets and for emotional support or support throughout tough situations. When there needs to be a play made for this team, it's be Olson. She will set up whatever they are trying to run and she will command those around her into the right positions so that they have a chance to be successful. Olson has been their leader in PPG and APG for a few years now. She is also up there in RPG for the group, which is interesting because of her natural size at 5'2. This shows she isn't afraid of mixing it up and getting her hands dirty to make a play or two either. There is a lot to like from Olson. She plays hard and she competes while producing. You can't hate that.
