These hoopers are the ones that keep the team together when things get tough. They do all the dirty work and they don't look for any recognition throughout while competing. In this article, we put a spotlight on some of those individuals.

Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!

Maggie Yanak of Boyer Valley High School was a vital piece to their operations in years past. When you look at her production, the team's overall success, and how those two things intertwine - you start to see that Yanak's play has been a common factor to their success. She has been showing up in almost every statistical category there is from the PG position and I don't expect anything different out of her for her Senior year over the next eight months. It's important to note that Yanak is also an able scorer. Just because she shows up everywhere else, doesn't mean she can't score. She averaged 10.1 PPG as a Junior and she will be averaging even more this Winter as her team's main scoring threat by the looks of it.

Jones takes the court this Winter as her teams main offensive and defensive threat from the Guard position. She has demonstrated in the past that she is quick on her feet, she is very active working off the ball, she understands spacing at a higher rate than most, and she isn't afraid to relentlessly take it to the basket as a scoring threat over and over until she gets to the foul line. Jones has been the "glue girl" for her team for few years now so it'll be interesting to see what she turns into when she has to be their main scoring option at the same time.

Central Springs didn't put together the overall season they would have hoped for last Winter but they had some positive takeaways in the end. Things like learning that players like Elle Lindsay can really help them against other well-equipped competition. Lindsay played at the Guard position but she was never afraid to mix it up in the middle with anyone that might be bigger than her. She fought for her own space each night and she left it all on the floor. She also led the team in APG, finding all of her open teammates whenever she could. The Panthers will look to build off of some of the good things they set in place last time around. If prospects like Lindsay can step up and do their thing with confidence - they should have better results this time around.

You can't mention Webster City without mentioning their monster in the middle, Evie Davis. Davis, the 6'1 Center, is one of those players that you need to know about if you face off against this program on a regular basis. 6'1 at the girls level is nothing to joke about and when you pair that with some ambition, it can go a long way. I know this article is all about stepping up and helping in different ways than scoring but I would be concerned if Davis wasn't averaged 10 PPG against her competition level. She is doing that (14.4) so it's nothing to worry about but just so it is noted. She also averaged over 10 RPG and she showed up in the blocked/altered shots department as much as you might of imagined. All in all, Davis is someone to keep an eye on this Winter. She might have some noteworthy stat-lines at the end of the day if opponents don't take them seriously enough.
