The offseason is the time to work on the parts of your game you avoid during the season. Guards should develop both hands, improve their ability to finish through contact, and become more consistent shooters. Posts should add footwork, range, and ball-handling. Don't just sharpen what you already do well—eliminate the weaknesses coaches can exploit.

Several players also spend their offseason working with ICE Basketball, which focuses on game-like training that puts athletes in situations they will actually see on the floor. Training against bigger, stronger, and more physical players forces athletes to adjust their pace, decision-making, and ability to finish through pressure. Over time, that competition can build confidence and help players feel more comfortable when facing tougher matchups during the season.

Izzy's game has clearly benefited from the work she's put in during the offseason, and that development is showing up when she steps on the floor. One of the biggest differences is her confidence attacking defenders, as she's become much more comfortable putting the ball down, getting downhill, and taking it all the way to the rim.

Getting this type of work in has made a noticeable difference in Leah's confidence, especially when she's matched up against bigger, more physical players. She's no longer timid about taking on those challenges and has become much more willing to play through pressure. That confidence has carried over to her handle as well, where she looks more comfortable and controlled with the ball in her hands.

Elise is an example of a player who has even stepped away from her second sport to focus more on basketball and her offseason training. That added work is beginning to show in her game, particularly in her ability to read the floor and stay composed when defenses apply pressure. She looks more comfortable making decisions in traffic and doesn't panic when the game speeds up, which has allowed her to find the right play and keep the offense moving.
