2030 Watch: Five Freshmen Ready To Make Their Mark

With just over a month away, high school basketball in Tennessee is about to get underway. For the past week, the scoop has been on the 2030 class, highlighting many attributes and opportunities on the horizon. We are still in the mix as we uncover some kids who are knocking on the door and will be pushing the envelope for more minutes.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>In previous articles, I talked about what's special about this class. I'm not holding back my comment about them. They've done exceptionally well on the circuit, and it will be interesting to see how all the pieces fit within the different programs. However, there are many kids we just can't sleep on. I expect more 2030s to be solid pieces that, once they get their opportunity, will flourish and be solid contributors. They may not start on day one, but I assume that by the middle of the season they will earn the trust of their coaches, and you will see more opportunities later in the year and, for sure, in the following year. An impactful kid who makes her presence known. Playing with motor, she's knocking down shots and scoring, a double-double threat every time she steps onto the floor. Had an impactful summer and will look to carry that momentum into the school season and push for varsity minutes early. She's a nightmare on the defensive side of the ball, making it tough for opponents to operate. Averaging 3 blocks a game this summer, she stood out defensively for sure. She can put the ball in the basket as well. Finishing through opponents and unleashing a nice mid-range game, she brought the juice to every contest. She and [player_tooltip player_id='1155021' first='MiMi' last='Lee'] will be a one-two punch of dynamic guards getting after it. Coming off a standout year of both school ball and fantastic play on the circuit, D1s are calling as her exceptional talent has been on display. A shifty guard who can score from all three levels, she also brings that dog-like mentality into the Frey. She's a beast on the defensive end and is truly impactful every time she steps onto the floor. A 3-level scoring threat who is a knockdown shooter. Can get to the rim, makes the right reads; the more confident she plays, the deadlier she becomes. A student of the game, she will find ways to exploit opponents. Had a solid year on the circuit and will look to capitalize on that momentum. She introduced herself to the district last year as an 8th grader and looks for her now to take over and be one of the top kids in it. A dual-sport athlete with great foot speed. A hungry competitor, she will look to come in and compete for minutes early. A kid who can knock down shots from multiple spots on the floor, she's a tough attacker who can finish at the rim. Her calling card is her defense, where she can get deflections and poke balls loose.
