Fall Rankings Rundown: 2027 Combo Guards

It's September, which means it's time for the rankings throughout the site to be updated. About a week and a half ago we released the updated list of 2027 prospects, but I would like to turn my attention to the combo guards in this article. Below is a list of those prospects with "combo guard" listed as their primary position, followed by some attention for the newcomers, and a look at a couple of ladies who are on the rise.   .    NEWCOMERS:    I had the chance to see Shanelle for the first time during the July evaluation period, and she was impressive in both games I saw. She has tremendous length at her height, she is quick, fast, and explosive, and she plays with a nice motor. She can score the ball in a variety of ways, she can create for others, and she can initiate the offense/run offense when necessary. Defensively, she does a nice job of using her physical talents to frustrate opponents, and she has the potential to become a lockdown defender.     Cambria is a tough-nosed guard who has improved a great deal over the past calendar year. She is strong at her size, she likes contact, but she is also skilled and can play both on and off the ball. She has some touch outside, a solid handle and understanding of running offense, plus she can attack the rim North/South and absorb contact. Defensively, she is willing to mix it up and she will get inside and rebound. Cambria is also a very good flag football player and is exploring both options for college sports.     Gracie is another tough, very strong/powerful, and physical combo guard, despite being just 5-3. She is an aggressive defender who plays with great energy and quick-footedness at that end of the floor. She does a nice job of using her quickness to dictate which way the ball-handler goes, plus her strength helps as well. Offensively, she has typically been a consistent perimeter shooter, she can get downhill North/South, but she has really improved throughout her career at ball security and distribution.    .   STOCK-RISERS:    This 2027 group of combo guards is very tough, top to bottom, and Aaliyah is just another example of that. She is built like a running back and explodes to the basket. She can turn corners or split defenders, and she absorbs contact well on the finish. She has some touch outside, but her game is getting into the paint. She has improved as a creator/distributor for others, and she excels as a physical on-ball defender. I think she is grossly underrecruited and could have an outstanding small college career.     I have been watching Marissa play ball since before her Freshman year, and she has always been a very competitive, tough, aggressive player. This Summer, however, she was on a different level. She has gotten stronger, much more physical, and she plays with a nonstop motor. She loves to get to the basket and finish, but she has touch outside as well, and she has become a more efficient ball-handler and game manager when playing a point guard role. I also like how she competes at the defensive end of the floor.
