Fall Rankings Rundown: 2027 Shooting Guards

It's September, which means it's time for the rankings throughout the site to be updated. About a week and a half ago we released the updated list of 2027 prospects, but I would like to turn my attention to the shooting guards in this article. Below is a list of those prospects with "shooting guard" listed as their primary position, followed by some attention for the newcomers, and a look at a couple of ladies who are on the rise.   .    NEWCOMERS:    If you appreciate all facets of the game, then Bry'Lee is a fun watch. She is tough-nosed, strong for her height, athletic, and she plays with a motor. She's tough to describe by position because she does a little of everything to help her team. Most importantly, she is a highly effective defender who is willing to be physical, rebound, and get on the floor, plus she can come out to the perimeter and defend most guards. Offensively, she is more of a slasher and an opportunistic scorer who finds space off other's penetration.     Brielle is the younger sister of Kenzie Garner (Ferris State FR-RS). Brielle is another versatile prospect who does a little of everything. Throughout her career, she has handled the ball in transition, initiated the offense, and created to find open teammates. She has also been a capable shooter/scorer, plus she does a nice job of using her length and fluidity at the defensive end of the floor to defend guards and wings. Because she isn't a big-time grassroots participant, I think she's a nice small college "sleeper" at this time.     Rheanna is another small college "sleeper" at this point, and I think someone could really luck out with her services. She is extremely long at her height, she is quick, fast, and fluid, and she plays with some versatility as well. She can handle it a little and initiate the offense, but to me at least, I feel like she's much better if you can get her open going downhill so she can attack the rim. She also has some touch when set and in rhythm, plus she does a nice job of using her length at the defensive end of the floor.     Lily is someone who caught my attention toward the end of July this Summer, and a lot of that could do with her play at La Lumiere and not an IHSAA school. Now that she has transferred to Marquette Catholic, she could shine and help them continue their winning ways. She is long, wiry-strong, and athletic in all directions. She is a very good shooter/scorer, but she also has a solid enough handle she can take some possessions initiating the offense for the Blazers. Her addition will give Marquette one of the deeper backcourts in Class 1A.     Payton is another intriguing guard and a solid small college prospect who should not go overlooked. She has a long, wiry-strong frame, she is a solid athlete in most directions, and she plays with a nice motor. She's another one of those versatile kids, who, I'm not sure does anything at an elite level, but she's also not deficient. She can handle it a little, attack the basket for scores, knock down an open perimeter jumper when in rhythm, and she will work at the defensive end, plus she'll get inside and rebound.     Not many people got to see much of Bra'laun last season due to her transfer restrictions from Warren Central. This Spring and Summer, however, she was very good at times. She is a talented run-and-jump athlete who does an excellent job of defending the ball. She can sit down and guard PGs or '2s', and she is willing to get a little physical as well. Offensively, she has some touch outside, but she's so quick that she often just turns the corner on the first dribble and gets to the basket. Keep an eye on her in 2026-2027.    .   STOCK-RISERS:    It's difficult to say Eva had the best grassroots season in 2026, improving her stock mightily, however, there aren't many others who can compete with her meteoric rise. She has always been a quietly tough competitor who just does what her team needs. Over the last couple of years, though, she has worked very hard on become a highly accurate shooter, but she's also a nice athlete who can attack the rim when overplayed. Additionally, she has a nonstop motor defensively, and she can defend or make hustle plays.     I think I stated this previously, but throughout her first couple of years of high school, Olivia was a solid all-around role player. However, this Summer she just looked much more skilled, much more under control, while also being much more aggressive. She has solid ball skill, some touch outside, plus she can defend multiple positions. She has a long but deceptively strong makeup, and she is always willing to play hard and make blue-collared types of plays. I think she's a certain "culture" kid for a successful small college program.
